I can't believe after all the YEARS we've had to put up with the ref whining that S2M isn't present on this board when the officiating is clearly the problem. That is sad to me, lmao.

WOW, Mays put a hit on Schaub... Mays lowers his head and levels Schaub... suspension time..

The officials blew a ton of calls, but honestly, it sucked for both teams. I've never seen so many phantom calls in my life. There were pass interference calls that were flat out ridiculous (not the last one against McCourty, as that was CLEARLY PI). Hell, Ed Reed (who I think is the greatest Safety to ever play) took Deion Branch's head off on one play, and this was after he took another cheap shot to another receiver's head that wasn't called. Horrendously called game, but fairly consistent with what I've seen in most of the games that I've watched this season. Not really sure about the kick, and not sure how anyone else can be that sure either, given none of the camera angles shown on the replay were definitive enough for my eyes. I do find it silly that a game deciding play like that cannot be reviewed by instant replay. Ultimately, the Patriots let one slip away that they probably should have won, as they outplayed Baltimore for most of that game. Such as life in the NFL. The one takeaway for me as a Patriots fan is that if the Patriots play Baltimore again, this team doesn't scare me, even a little. Based on what I've seen over the first three games, their defense simply isn't that good. I'm sure it will improve some when Suggs gets back, but relying on ancient guys like Ray Lewis and Ed Reed probably won't take them to the promise land this season. Next up, Buffalo!

If those uprights are another 5 feet tall (and why aren't they again?) That final kick either hits the upright and comes back into the field of play or hits and continues wide right. No way that thing goes in.

It certainly didn't pay to pick the favorites this week. :(

This sounds like a sick joke, but it's a true story: The Jets-Dolphins game was so intense, it literally gave my father a stroke. I spent the entire night in the emergency room by his bedside, and the doctors still don't know if he'll recover. I didn't get to see the end of the game, since I was riding in the back of an ambulance by then. (he had a history of mini-strokes before yesterday, but this was a big one.) I found out the final score while I was in the hospital waiting-room, and I was glad to be able to tell him that the Jets won. I was also glad to be able to tell him that the Pats lost (since, as a Jets fan, he naturally hates the Pats.)
I have no idea if he understood a word I was saying, and I know football scores are completely trivial in situations like this, but whatever... I guess we all cling to what we little bits of comfort we can, right?

Thank you, I appreciate that. He still hasn't regained consciousness as of this afternoon, but at least they moved him to a more comfortable bed.

Anyway, sorry, I don't want to bring down the tone of what should generally be a lighthearted thread about a game we all enjoy.

I'm really sorry to hear all this, man. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

And on the subject of mixing this with football....after I had my stroke in '10, I dove head first into keeping up with EVERYTHING, all teams, stats, histories, ANYTHING I could search on the websites or whatever. Most of the stuff I already knew, but it was a TREMENDOUS distraction for me while I couldn't walk, or really do ANYTHING else. That being said...clinging to it is a necessary thing, *I* think.

OMG dude that's terrible. You and your dad will be in my thoughts. This reminded me of a story last year to where father and son attended a game together and the dad ended up having a heart-attack and passing away. The son was so distraught about it that he had a heart attack and passed away. These games are downright stressful when you're a diehard fan, I live it every Sunday. I have to have paper-towels by my side because I get so nervous and my hands sweat badly. Football is an emotional game and fans take it to the next level with emotion.

Cheers to a very, very quick recovery for your dad and your family. We'll be thinking about you.

I don't think there's any team I like watching more on Monday Night (or a premier game) than Seattle at home. That crowd is just so intense.

8 sacks on Rodgers and it isn't even halftime yet. I love watching Seattle on MNF or premier games at home. I'd take Marshawn Lynch in Black and Gold anyday. My fav back in the league. And to think I have Seattle's defense in fantasy sitting on the bench. Didn't like the matchup with Rodgers and loved the Steelers defense up against Palmer and a lathargic Raiders offense. Fuck me.

I didn't even think it was possible for cable broadcasts to be in 1080p. Does that limitation apply to satellite, too?

It has finally happened. These refs just cost the Packers the game. Clearly an interception. At first I figured in a tangle-up, possession goes to the offense but Jennings clearly had the ball against his body with possession, not to mention Tate pushing off. Terrible, but exciting ending.

What's it going to take for the NFL to get their head out of their anal cavity and fucking get the original ref's back in action?

I'm still trying to figure out how you can have two refs watching that pay up close and they come up with two different rulings. Unbelievable....

One of strangest seasons i've ever seen in terms of upsets so far after three weeks...

Green Bay falls to Seattle...1-2
New England loses to Arizona last week also 1-2
New Orleans loses at home to KC ...0-3 so far
Peyton Manning and Denver 1-2
Arizona suddenly 3-0 and best team in league through 3 weeks
Minnesota defeats San Francisco,2-1 lead north division
Detroit loses to Tennessee in OT 46 total points scored in 4th Quarter,Lions 1-2
Pittsburgh 1-2 blows lead losing to Oakland
Buffalo lead AFC east at 2-1,New England near bottom at 1-2
New Orleans worst team in league at 0-3

I could kick myself for not picking Seattle last night to beat Green Bay because the Seahawks are gonna be pretty good this year and their starting QB Russell Wilson is pretty good too.Having Lynch to ppound out yardage on the ground helps also not to mention the Seattle defense not too bad either. They will definitely give the Niners a run for its money on the NFC West.

Congrats Trav looks like your in first place. Can't wait to start week four.

Good luck!

Everyone must have better eyes than me because I doubt the regular refs could have made the right call on that one. In real time it was nearly impossible to tell. Appearing to be simultaneous, they made the right call. the replay has to be irrifutably conclusive to overturn. not sure that was possible. If they'd gone the other way, Seattle would be bitching just as loud. Now, they flat blew the offensive interference no call. That bothers me way more than other.

LOL! It was clearly an interception. I'm happy for Seattle, but no, a simple replay clearly shows that ball was intercepted. For it to be a simultaneous catch, I'm thinking both the defender and the receiver must exhibit clear possession of the football. One guy had two arms around the ball and holding it to his chest, the other guy appeared to have his hand trapped underneath. It was the wrong call.

I couldn't disagree with you more. I thought it was very clear live and become abundantly clear, after watching the replay. Apparently, Sportsbook.com agrees, because they are refunding the money of everyone who bet on the Packers in last night's game. Morals introduced into degenerate gambling over this debacle. Classic.

I'd like to thank the replacement officials for sustaining the integrity of my Perfect 0-7 Record for predicting the Thursday and Monday night games.

Hey, if you guys need an easy 2 points every week, just look up TheAspieGiraffe picks for Thursday and Sunday, then pick the opposite (and I'm only saying this in hopes of breaking this jinx. ). For this coming week, I'll be picking the Ravens (They really...couldn't...lose to the Browns, could they?) and the Bears (This will be a defensive struggle, but my chips are on the Bears' linemen to pressure Romo into some costly turnovers.)

In real time, I can't fault the referee making the call, depending on their angle. I don't think either of the first two refs that ran into where the pile of players was had a great angle. However, upon viewing the replay, it looks fairly obvious to me that the pass should have been ruled an interception. That's on the replay officials, however, and they are not replacements.
