I'm long on record as liking Big Ben's style (and despising the person). But he's not an MVP candidate this year or any other year. And to be sure, that fucker does have a LOT of offensive weapons, too.

All in all, this is a really down year for the AFC North. None of the teams looks impressive in the least, even though 3 of them have winning records right now. And the Browns are obviously what they are.

Couldn't agree more. Ben has always been a very good NFL QB. That said, he's simply not the type of player who can win the MVP, in my opinion. There are simply far too many other QB's who are better than he is, and put up far more impressive numbers than he does. If you're a Pittsburgh fan and want to say that numbers don't matter and only wins matter, I'll say okay. There are far too many other QB's who win a lot more than he does as well. Again, very good player. That said, there are probably five QB's off the top of my head I would take over him.

I've seen Ben stiff arm Terrell Suggs multiple times so don't be surprised to see Ben punk Ware if he gets the chance to see the field. Now that you say that, I am absolutley scared to death of Ware going up against any of our lineman. Max Starks is going to have to play the game of his life to keep Ware from pressuring Ben's blindside.

The Cowgirls haven't been relevant in DECADES. Their fans amuse the hell out of me. They're like an old, college team who won a National Championship in 1990 and hasn't had a sniff since. The fans keep telling you how great their team is, and you begin to wonder if they even watch football. There was a time the Patriots were one of the absolute worst run organizations in all of sports with lousy owners and lousy players. While I was still a fan, you never would have heard me telling anyone how great my team was.

How is he not an MVP candidate this year when it's already being talked about by many media outlets? Roethisberger is being praised by basically every outlet there is on television and in writing, even from the media's top journalists in the ESPN and NFL.COM circuit (which is where the word gets out for MVP to begin with.)

Supported facts:

In a couple games this season already, Ben has hit atleast 11 different receivers in the same game, most having 12 or more catch's between them in 4 games. Ben is distributing the ball with accuracy to everybody but the ball boy and beer vendor.

He's 3rd in the league in QBR only behind Matt Ryan and Alex Smith and the Steelers had an early BYE. He owns a 10/1 TD to INT ratio. His 3rd down stats are something this league hasn't seen in years, completing 3rd and longs at will (12, 15, 17 yards at a time) like it's nothing on almost every 3rd down occasion. He leads the league in 3rd down conversions for a quarterback in down and distance. His weapons around him have dropped many pass's thus far this season, including 5 last week against Philly which were 2 potential touchdown conversions.

If Roethlisberger is not already in conversations about being MVP of this league, then those that are in charge of such things need their heads examined. Roethlisberger is carrying the Steelers and their shortcomings more than ever. The mental part of his game have improved, and his physical skills have yet to decline. He has overcome a terrible offensive line and an inferior running game. His wide receivers have hurt him with uncharacteristic drops, but he has been accurate. Roethlisberger is almost taken for granted, but he's one of the best five quarterbacks in the NFL. Thursday night's showcase and possible Steelers record will be a reminder of how much he already has accomplished at age 30.

If this kind of production from Roethlisberger continues, you can't deny his belonging. The numbers there support the MVP theory. There's no doubt in my mind big numbers are on the horizon for Ben this season because the Steelers barely even installed or thought about trying to stretch the field yet. Ben's efficiency could grow magnificently than it is now. The slight emergence of a threat in the backfield with Mendenhall will strengthen that possibility of going more downfield off play-action.

That team can't catch a fucking break. Last year, Schaub, Johnson, and Williams. This year, Cushing. Next thing you know, JJ Watt and Schaub will get hurt next week. I love that team too. Just love the way they play football and do it all, and with not much drama either.

You know....I am not a big fan of Atlanta or Houston....but I am glad they are doing great! Alot of the underdog teams need to arise. I am just glad cause my Rams are above 500 for now. GO RAMS! And yes...I am a Seahawks fan also, since I live here in Seatlle. Just Rams were my team before Seattle had a team, so I am still devoted to the Rams.

Sucks about Cushing for the Texans.

That's a big blow but as long as J.J Watt is playing at the level that he is, then Houston will be one bitchin' of a place to play if they land homefield. They were one win away from the AFC Title game with T.J Yates at QB while Andre Johnson and Arian Foster nursed injuries all season. And to think I'm not ENTIRELY sold on them either. It will all come down to the Shaub factor. They have a shot to go far.

Early April, Seattle and Atlanta were my surprise teams in the NFC this year. Over the past 3 seasons, you could feel Atlanta becoming the team nobody wants to play. Their getting there.

Yeah, it's definitely time for a changing of the guard so to speak and for some underdog teams to start rising to the top. I'm hoping my Redskins get there in the next few years, but we'll see. No offense to the fans here, but I'm kind of tired of the Patriots, Steelers, Ravens, Packers, Saints, etc... and yes, part of that is probably a bit of jealously, since I grew up enjoying watching Wasington be one of the top teams in the league year in and year out during the 80's, and have suffered with them in the past twenty years while seeing virtually the same teams be considered "elite" for over the past decade, but I do know all good things eventually come to an end and there will be another shift in the NFL of teams crashing down and other teams rising to the top. Unfortunately for the 'skins, they have missed several turns since 1993!

New NFL.com fanbase power rankings:

Top Tier:

Green Bay Packers: No team has a stronger connection to its fans than the Packers. They are smarter and more loyal. They demand better coverage. It's a lifestyle.

Buffalo Bills: Bills fans are similarly passionate, smart and hopeful, despite a lot of bad times.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Steelers fans overwhelm you with their size. You can see and hear them from 50 feet away.

Cleveland Browns: Browns are heroically loyal considering the hand they have been dealt. They deserve so much better.

New Orleans Saints: The Saints own New Orleans. The city goes up and down with them.

Oakland Raiders: Oakland's home crowds knock them down a bit, but they remain a national team. The fans they have are absolutely rabid.

Seattle Seahawks: It's impressive Seattle has built the best home crowd in football without a great franchise. Their fans are quietly football smart.

Philadelphia Eagles: Philly is probably the most sports-mad city in the country, but it's ultimately an Eagles town.

Denver Broncos: The same is true for Denver and the Broncos.

Chicago Bears: The Bears are a generational thing. They might be the best "big city" fan base on the list.

Washington Redskins: Nothing unites D.C. like the Redskins. I initially knocked them down a tier for mild ticket struggles, but they deserve to be among the elite.

Football owns these cities.


Bottom rung:

New England Patriots: I grew up in Western Massachusetts, so I can take the inevitable Patriots fan heat from this. The Foxborough crowd is one of the worst -- and quietest in football. It's a fact. The fact it's true during one of the best runs the sport has ever seen is troubling. Boston also remains a baseball town, the last year notwithstanding. The city's emotion doesn't ebb and flow with the Patriots like it does with the Red Sox. There was always a sense of superiority from Red Sox fans in terms of their knowledge and passion about baseball compared to other fan bases. That's how true football towns feel about Boston. Football is not ingrained in the Massachusetts blood. There is some risk here of spoiled complacency after the Belichick era is over, not unlike what's happened in Dallas and San Francisco

Atlanta Falcons/ Miami Dolphins: Atlanta and Miami are front-runner towns. The intensity is going to wane without a winner. (Although I'd love to see how Miami comes alive if the Dolphins are good again.)

Tennessee Titans: The Titans are embraced in Tennessee; there just isn't much of a history there.

Arizona Cardinals: The new stadium has helped transform the Cardinals fan base.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Ticket prices have improved. Passionate fans, just not enough.

Cincinnati Bengals: We don't particularly blame Bengals fans for bailing at times.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The post-Super Bowl shine wore off quickly in Tampa.

St. Louis Rams: The same is true for the post-Greatest Show Rams. St. Louis is a baseball town

San Diego Chargers: If we grew up in San Diego, we probably wouldn't care as much about the NFL either.

Not sold the Steelers can beat anybody convincingly, let alone a bad team on the road by more than 10 points. Tonight would be a good time to show fans something along the lines of handling a much inferior opponent in their stadium if they want to go anywhere this season. We could use the AFC Conference victories. Steelers by 10; 24-14.

Ultimately, it doesn't really matter how many points you win the game by. That said, this is a bad Titans team with overrated stiffs on the roster (hello Chris Johnson). This Titans team is one of the lowest scoring teams in the NFL and is completely overmatched against a Steelers team who can put the ball in the end zone. Steelers by 17.
