Dave says FIB is TOTO's last album. I think I speak for everyone here when I say, "well, that sucks."
With their new management, the band hopes to do a PBS soundstage show and maybe get some other US publicity.

The Chicago/Toto tour idea was cool, I hope that actually happens, it would be a way for Toto to actually be on a proper tour across the country. No question I would attend a couple of those shows.

Pardon me, but why would Toto want to tour with Chicago? Chicago are long past their heyday and have come to the point where quality as well as ticket sales are decreasing substantially. When they sacked Bill Champlin a few years ago it was probably as low as it could get. Oh well.

Chicago are long past their heydey, but with 120 million records sold and forty top forty hits, they are also a much bigger band than Toto. And they can play to much larger crowds in the US. In truth, isn't every band on melodicrock more or less "past their heydey"?

I'd love to see it. Plus, having Toto as an opening act might kick them in the ass and return them to their roots.

Ok, first of all, I love those albums but I can see what you mean. I guess it depends on what you like :)

By the way, did you know that the Chorus of "Bottom of your Soul" is sung by Joseph?

But to your question: First of all, hiring Joseph was always meant to be a live thing. I think they even said that they were not planning on doing a cd with him back then. However, things changed.

A big reason why there are no new Releases at this time is propably the whole Frontiers situation. Frontiers sued Toto and claimed the rights to any new material recorded by the band. Toto does (obviously) not agree and this fight has been going on for some time now. I really hope this can all be resolved soon, so that we might just get a new album.

If you want to know more about this stuff, you can find almost anything here on this board.

greets Roy

Nothing against Williams, he just doesn't do it for me.

Kimball and Joe are both great. Out of all the TOTO singers, perhaps Fergie has the most generic AOR voice. But both Joe and Bobby have unique voices - unique timbre, inflections, everything. Bobby, perhaps, brings a little more soul to the table.

My preference for Joe is simply his consistency live. Bobby could be - in turns - spectacular or awful live. I find Joe tends to hold up better through the concerts.

Bobby is my favorite, but I thought Joe was awesome last month! Already feels like it was a year ago.

It's a Feeling was sung by Steve Porcaro.

I keep hoping the guys will change their minds, but it looks less and less likely. If Toto never does another album because of legal crap with Frontiers, then that label should just cease being. I don't know if that's the reason, but it certainly isn't motivating them to create. I'm digging Luke's solo albums and am really excited about his new one, but there's something special with him & Paich creating and Joe singing.
