That was the game Fox started on, but when the Gstring started getting pounded, they switched to Saints/Falcons.

That's what 1 bad week does, haha. I've been consistently picking 10-11 wins every week and BOOM, a lousy 5 wins and on the verge of choking away my 10 week lead. Last week started with that BONEHEADED Jags pick and didn't get any better from there lol. Will be interesting!

Pats in the Belichick era have had a history of struggling (not always losing) against QBs they haven't seen before. They lost to Russell Wilson earlier this year. Anyone foresee Andrew Luck pulling an upset?

They also have a history of being virtually unbeatable in the second half of the season (16-0 over the last two years). That said, QB's a whole lot less talented than Luck can beat this Patriots defense, which isn't very good. Also, not sure how much of an "upset" it would be. Last I checked, both teams have the same record. Patriots by 10.

I am in the minority, but I much prefer Football on TV than live.

Interesting that "Outside The Lines" is doing a 30 minute show this morning devoted to this very topic. TV ratings are up 12% for the NFL over the past five years. During that same period, attendance in stadiums drop 4% per year. An ESPN Sports Poll taken in 1998 showed that 54% of fans would rather be in the stadium than watch the game on TV. By the 2011 season, only 29% of people would rather watch the game in person than on their HDTV. I can't say that I'm surprised by any of this data. As I said in my initial response to this post, NFL football is FAR superior on TV than it is in person. No matter how great your seats are, you are going to miss FAR more than you can see. Just last week, Fox TV expressed great concern over how great The Red Zone Channel is, given how much they're paying for the rights to broadcast NFL games.

The 500 sections are the last sections of Heinz & I've takin them seats over the 100 sections before and pretty much always do. Those are where the rabid fans are and the way Heinz Field is architecture'd, every seat is close to the field, even the higher-ups. Best seats in the house, you can see everything develop perfectly.

Fair assessment on the game tonight. Noone is giving us a shot and it's justifiable. The crowd is going to be red-hot tonight so hopefully Lefty can give us atleast 2 TD drives and the rest will be up to the defense. I expect a hard fought game regardless of who's in or out.

Proud of our defense. Kept the Ravens offense out of the endzone. Got to be solid in all phases of the game and Special Teams bit the dust. Balty has been takin them back lately. Good game. Give us Ben back healthy and we'll make our run!

Anything is possible, but I would say that is highly unlikely. One of the reasons the NFL is the most successful league on the planet is they fuck with their fans the least out of all of the major sports leagues. They already have enough stuff they charge money for through The NFL Sunday Ticket and The Red Zone Channel (best channel on a Sunday afternoon when you're not watching your team play). I think the NFL understands just how important TV is to their brand, and how important it is to continue to grow those audiences. I think they're smart enough not to screw with the equation. I think what they really need to do (and will do) is to improve the in-stadium experience for those who actually want to go to the game. They need to provide wi-fi in all of the stadiums, along with The Red Zone Channel to allow fans to enjoy the game, as well as keeping up with other action around the NFL.

The numbers in the white box on the Steelers' unis are a nice touch also, 'cause with the pattern and colors of the rest of the uniform, you'd probably never be able to even find the numbers.

I think for so long as Super Bowl tickets are selling for thousands, and while the commercials continue to be a focal point for a lot of people who watch (which also drag in an additional half million every 30 seconds,) it's safe to say No.
