Ya oh ya youve got the best new face in the human race. Those lyrics and that song was right up there with This Is Not A Test and Toys for American Boys. Cringe worthy!

As for the'hidden track' please hide it soooooooooo well that it can never be found. Hide that baby along with Iraq's weapons of mass destruction. Add to those DDY's gems Hip Hop & Great Expectations and you have the disaster that was released as Brave New World.

But given JY's attitude and what he's said in the past, I'll quote him, "When they're playing hockey on the river Styx." Besides, if I am DDY, after what those guys have done, if they come calling I'd tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine.

Ah yes, poor little Dennis. It almost brought a tear to my eye, with all the stuff he had to endure.
Now ,wait a minute.I almost forgot.Let's read page 294 of 'The Grand Delusion',and I feel much better already.
Besides,if I am Tommy ,JY and Chuck, after all Dennis has done,if he comes calling I'd tell him to stick it where the sun don't shine.

You mention page 294 of TGD so much that I had to re read it to find out what was so awful. Basically it discusses Dennis and Tonmy having an argument about BNW. Essentially Dennis is hot becAuse he doesn't want to release an album that wasn't finished. And given the piece of crap that BNW was, I'd say he was right. The horror!

I wonder what he would have added or done different.?
I quite like BNW.One of the few Styx albums I listen to these days.

...and yes I bring page 294 up any chance I get.It really was an argument where Dennis wanted to be right.
Cutting off, shutting down Tommy constantly, until he just stood there.
Dennis won the battle but lost the war.

He could have done a lot - BNW was a piece of shit and should never have been released.

So are you saying Dennis' contributions to that album were pieces of shit? I think that is too harsh of a statement about that album. It's just that you can tell that it wasn't done as a collective and that it did not have that familiar Styx vibe that the other albums had. In a sense a let down based on what fans thought they were likely to get.

So are you saying that Dennis' contributions were not shit, but the others were?

I'm saying that calling the album a piece of shit is too harsh in my opinion. Disappointing yes, since the album as a whole and the songs contained on it were not up to what we as fans expected to get giving what we have gotten before. I am not focusing on any specific song(s). To me it's not something that you can't listen to.

It was a crap album. There is not one song that holds a candle to what thy had done in the past. Its solo album mish mash. Compare DDY's 100 years songs to BNW. Compare Shaw's songs from RTP or 7DZ and OWE to BNW. Compare JY's TATT to his BNW songs. BNW is crap. Period.

Loved Edge, I mean I REALLY REALLY thought it was a GREAT album. Side 2 of Kilroy was very good.

For me what made Brave New World soooooooo bad was 4 songs were just plain AWEFUL. Add to this quite a few average at best songs and you have got one bad album.

Still, Roseland and Everything is Cool were great songs. I also thought Heavy Water and What Have They Done To You were excellent JY led Styx songs.

Witness and Brave New World were both slightly above average and Fallen Angel, Number 1 and While Theres Still time were average at best.

Not surprised by that.....But I believe that both are much more cohesive than BNW. Both Edge and KWH have great moments. Are any of the three Paradise Theater or Grand Illusion? No, but Edge and Kilroy were successful - generated strong singles. Between the 2 of them, they generated 5 top 10 singles (4 pop and 1 rock track). Everything about BNW from the recording, to the mish mash of solo and group efforts to my God, the misspellings on the liner notes, screamed AMATEURISH.

I was happy for the new material but disappointed by the lack of that trademark sound. Say what you will about DDY but, in my opinion he had the right touch to make their albums have their trademark sound. You can see a bit of that in OYFN even though it's a solo album. In my opinion it does not deserve to be labeled as complete garbage just not what one would expect to get from a group of musicians with so much history together and track record. Clearly, the strain of the band relationship issues effected the album greatly. The thing I disliked right off the bat was that gawd awful cover. Looked like something a garage band's first album would look like. it's almost as bad as the RCA re-releases of the WN era albums. The most puzzling thing for me was a comment made by Tommy prior to the release of the album. He said that it was going to be a concept type album. I thought that was very odd since he complained so much back in the day that he didn't want to do concept albums in Styx anymore and it was one of the things he cited as a reason to leave the band in the first place.

I liked Edge very much as well. Of course I missed Tommy on that album but, if Glen was never in Styx I probably would have never known about him and his great talents. He fit in very well even though I think he has stated that he didn't feel fully comfortable being in a band like Styx. He and Dennis "clicked" very well together musically in my opinion much like Tommy and Dennis did. As far as Kilroy, I enjoyed that album and never got the backlash it has gotten form fans and certain band members. It was a unique concept and the censorship theme was ahead of it's time. I think it suffered from the total concept not being fully "fleshed out" due the lack of interest in it from band memebers sans DDY. Say what you will but the mere fact that the song Mr. Roboto has a place in pop culture tells you something in a good way.

I kind of liked the reprise also. I thought it was far far better than Just Fell In, Best New face, Great Expectations and Hip Hop. Then again so is the flu.

No announcement, but it will be happening from the end of this month until the end of Jan 2013. Look for Glen in a few of the Jan shows.

Hockey on the river Styx anyone???

Sure wish some of these shows were close to me.

The world ending on December 21st is more likely to happen than this :?

Rumor now has it that is the first date of this limited tour with DDY's return.

So how did this first gig with DDY go??

Dennis had to cancel.
He was busy writing a musical about playing hockey on the river of Styx.
Also there's the anniversary with Suzanne to think about.2 more songs for her are on their way.

Reports just leaked from the bands "inner circle" and said that actually a fight broke out between Gowan and DDY on who was going to spin the keyboard. Additionally, TS wanted to cancel as well since he was busy packing to move from CA to avoid the new "millionaire tax" as well as to take advantage of one of the states that has now legalized pot. The exact state was not disclosed.

I heard that this was nixed and now they are going to re-record Light Up for Regeneration III with Gowan signing lead. It will have a more rockin' tempo to it and will feature sound clips of TS doing bong hits.
