The Bill Belichick/Ed Reed love fest continues to roll along. Now Reed is cutting his sleeves to be like Bill. Nutty shit. These guys just need to consummate their relationship

“It’s the reason why I wear my sweater cut off a little bit,” Reed explained about his sleeveless hoodie. “He’s the first guy I saw like, ‘That’s cool.’ You know, that’s cool. He cuts those sweater sleeves, and he’ll be comfortable. So there’s a reason why. Most people will tell you around the facility that’s how I look. It’s just a blessing to even have met, to know Coach Belichick.”

I've been saying this is a possible fit depending on New England's interest. I don't think the Ravens are going to be able to afford to pay Reed. Not sure that they should either.

I've always loved and respected Reed. Best Safety I've ever watched play (yes, better than Ronnie Lott and Polamalu). The Ravens are an impossible team to root for (for me), because I truly believe that they are a team of douchebags, but I've never felt that way about Reed. Dude is simply a class act. If I were the Patriots, I definitely would not sign him for more than one year, because he's already over the hill. Having said that, I think for one season, he would be exactly what the Patriots defense DESPERATELY needs! They haven't had a player in their defensive backfield like that since Rodney Harrison retired. With Reed, they become a top 10 defense, and become the favorite to win it all next season. We'll see how it all shakes out.

Sorry dude, but the Colts championships don't count for Baltimore any longer. That's like the city of Boston counting Braves championships because they used to be the Boston Braves!

Don't even bother arguing this with me. I grew up a Colts fan. The Braves argument holds no water. Maybe when I'm long dead and gone that might apply but not now.

Enjoying the day win or lose tomorrow. Heading down to Camden Yards where the Super Bowl V and XXXV trophies are on display for photo ops.

That's right the Baltimore colts Super Bowl trophy resides here. Irsay sent it back after the move. Ask Liam - he saw it when he visited.

To my 49ers friends on the board, I wish us all a good time and a fun game to watch. Let the players on the field decide it. All we can do is watch.

My honest assessment of today's game. San Francisco is the better team. Baltimore hasn't faced a defense like this in the playoffs, so I suspect their offense is going to have to make a whole lot of adjustments. Flacco is playing very well, as is Kaepernick. I'm simply looking forward to watching a Super Bowl completely stress free and not really giving a shit which team wins the game. I will personally be rooting for the 49'ers, because beyond Ed Reed, there is absolutely NOTHING to like about the Ravens. Most of their players are complete douche rags and have zero class. As much as I know people hate the Patriots, I can't imagine anyone ever watching a single interview with a single player on their team and coming away thinking these guys are douches. For that reason alone, I refuse to root for the Ravens. I can't stomach to watch Lewis praise Jesus for three hours after the game. I do think Kaepernick is much more of a wildcard in this game than Flacco is. At this point, Flacco has proven that the moment of the playoffs isn't too big for him. Who knows what you'll get out of Kapernick. I've been watching the NFL long enough to know that the best team doesn't always win. I'm actually hoping that the Patriots just sneak into the playoffs next season. The Giants and Ravens have proven that being highly seeded is vastly overrated. Most people I know think the Ravens are a fraud team who will get blown off the field in this game. I don't believe that. David Akers has sucked this season and shouldn't be trusted in the biggest game of the season. Give me Justin Tucker...even as a rookie. I can hardly wait for the Harbaugh/Lewis circle jerk! Baltimore by 3.

Chasing Respect, Ravens Earn It From Their Inspiration, Ali

NEW ORLEANS — Jim and John Harbaugh compete on many levels, most notably as coaches of opposing teams in the Super Bowl on Sunday. But when it comes to inspirational first fans, John seems to have the upper hand.

Muhammad Ali, with the Ravens, has continued to follow the team since visiting a practice before the season opener.

The Man Behind the Ravens’ Curtain (January 31, 2013)

After all, the Ravens have had Muhammad Ali in their corner.

Before their season opener in September, John Harbaugh, Baltimore’s coach, arranged for Ali to make a surprise visit to the Ravens’ practice. Ali spent about an hour with the players and some of their children, and he posed for pictures and shook some hands. Two days later, Ali watched the Ravens beat the Cincinnati Bengals.

Although Ali was with the Ravens only briefly, the players continued to talk about his visit during the season, especially his message to them about the need to earn respect.

“Any time you get support from someone like that, it definitely means a lot,” Jack Cornell, an offensive lineman on the Ravens’ practice squad, said Tuesday. “For him to stand up and do the things he did, it really took sports and this country to another level.”

Ali and his wife, Lonnie, struck by the team’s passion and energy, have continued to follow the Ravens.

“We were totally taken,” Lonnie Ali said in an e-mail. “It wasn’t one thing but everything about the Ravens that impressed us, starting with the coach. They are a family, and we felt like family. We became fans.”

The Alis even sent Harbaugh a text message before the Ravens beat the New England Patriots in the A.F.C. championship game that said they were proud of the team. In the note, Muhammad Ali also said, “If I had wings, I’d be there with you.”

Harbaugh invited the Alis to New Orleans to watch the Super Bowl this Sunday, the Ravens spokesman Kevin Byrne said, but they decided to watch the game at home in Arizona instead.

“I’ll be shouting and screaming and acting like a crazy fan rooting for the Ravens,” Lonnie Ali wrote. “Muhammad will be doing his usual thing: watching quietly and intently and hopefully praying when I ask him.”

Muhammad Ali is no stranger to Jim and John Harbaugh. Their father, Jack, used to watch boxing on television with their grandfather, who was a big fan of the sport. It was then that “it all came together how Muhammad Ali, he used boxing as a platform for love, especially with children, especially with the downtrodden and people who were at a little bit of a disadvantage,” Jack Harbaugh said Wednesday. “He became my hero.”

Jack Harbaugh coached football for more than a decade at Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, Ky., about a 115-mile drive south from Louisville, Ali’s hometown.

When his sons were young, Jack used to recount Ali’s title bout against Ernie Terrell in 1967. Like Floyd Patterson before him, Terrell called Ali by his given name, Cassius Clay, even after Ali had changed it to reflect his devotion to Islam.

As he hit Terrell during the lopsided bout, an angry Ali yelled, “What’s my name?”

About a dozen years ago, Jack Harbaugh started incorporating the story into motivational speeches he gave to different teams, including those coached by his sons. In 2008, John’s first year as the coach of the Ravens, Jack came to talk. As a coda, he told the players that no one knew their name and that they would have to win to earn their rivals’ respect. During team huddles thereafter, John Harbaugh would yell, “What’s my name?” The players would respond, “Baltimore Ravens,” three times.

The story caught on. The Ravens’ marketing staff promoted the line, and fans started wearing T-shirts that bore the phrase “What’s my name?”

When Jack addressed the team in September, John arranged for Ali, who was in Baltimore to promote his charity, to drive onto the field in a golf cart just as his father was reaching a peak. As the golf cart approached, the players realized who was in it. When Ali arrived, he nodded for Jack to finish the story.

“When I saw him, I was just shocked,” Ravens fullback Vonta Leach said of Ali. “Just to be able to shake his hand was awesome. Just spending a lot of his time with us, that was really special.”

The 49ers have their own inspirations. A few weeks after he spoke to the Ravens, Jack flew to California to meet with Jim. After a practice, Jim said he would drive his father home, but he made an unexpected stop at a different house.

After knocking on the door, they were taken to a study where Willie Mays — “the greatest baseball player to ever live, in my opinion,” Jack said — was watching the San Francisco Giants play the Cincinnati Reds in the playoffs.

Not wanting to favor either son, Jack declined to say which team had the better inspirational hero.

“I’m not going there,” he said. “No one trumps anybody.”

Oh please. Save me with this moronic "We don't get any respect" bullshit! I hated when the Patriots used to do it back in the day, and I hate it when any team does it. Not to mention, neither team in this game is really much of a favorite to win this game. This game is the ultimate coin flip, so I'm not sure how these self-important, self-absorbed, assbag Ravens feel that somehow they're not getting any "respect"!

Muhammad Ali being dragged out of mothballs to "inspire" a team is beyond ridiculous. 99% of the fuckers on that team (and all of the NFL) don't even know who Lawrence Taylor is, let alone Ali. They should find their inspiration in the fact that they have a chance to win a championship, not through a guy who doesn't even know what planet he lives on at this point!

Well if they win it won't be because of spy cameras. :?

I get the Ray Lewis exhaustion outside of Baltimore. Flacco is a GREAT guy. Totally unassuming and modest. He only said he felt he was the best QB in the league when badgered by reporters. I don't get the hate on him.

Ray Rice, Matt Birk, and Torrie Smith are some of the most likable guys on the planet. Ok you all hate my team. Fine. LOL The new Oakland Raiders it is then!

Win or lose I'm going out and having a fun time tonight.

In 1971, it was presented for the first time as the Vince Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl V when the Baltimore Colts defeated the Dallas Cowboys 16-13.

I did not realize that. Saw it yesterday. It resides at Camden Yards.

I don't know Flacco personally, but the guy comes across as a complete fucking ass clown in every interview I've ever seen with him. I've yet to see a single interview with Flacco where he comes across as remotely "modest"! I agree with you that Smith is VERY likeable. Comes across as a very humble and good guy. As for Ray Rice...fuck him. He has Ray Lewis' cock in his mouth 99% of the time he's being interviewed! Matt Birk isn't really a Raven. He's a kid out of Harvard, who will always be a Viking and had to wrap his career with someone. I actually like both Harbaughs as coaches. Just get this game over with so I can move on to next season!

I haven't picked Balty all post-season. It's really anybodies game and I think San Francisco's defense gets after Flacco, picks some balls off and gives the keys to a WELL balanced San Francisco offense working off of both speed, agility AND power. San Francisco by 10.

I hope all you Ray Lewis fans are watching this interview. This guy is beyond insufferable. Dude is seriously sitting up there bragging about the doctor was telling him his career was over and how no player has ever come back. I especially liked when Shannon Sharpe asked him about the two dead guys and he used his standard, puke inducing "God makes no mistakes" line. He forgot to mention that he paid off the families! What a fucking turd in the punch ball this fraud is! Fuck Lewis! I hope someone on the 49'ers punches him in the mouth!
