ULTIMATE SETLIST BEING PLAYED NOW

Postby Toph » Wed May 01, 2013 2:16 am

This is about as close to perfect of a setlist as you are going to find. In terms of capturing the overall biggest Styx songs, this one beats Styx hands down. Only thing needed is Don't Let It End and Pieces of Eight.

From DDY's Facebook page

THE RETURN OF CRYSTAL BALL

We debuted Crystal Ball in Montreal and the reaction to August's version was spectacular. So in the set it shall remain. This may turn out to be my favorite song August sings in the show, not to mention the guitar solo. The classic Styx repertoire is now complete.

Thanks to the people of Chicago who made this show at the Arcada in St Charles another sell out.

Set list in St Charles

THE MESSAGE
THE GRAND ILLSUION
LADY
BLUE COLLAR MAN
SHOW ME THE WAY
MR. ROBOTO
DESERT MOON
CRYSTAL BALL
BORN FOR ADVENTURE
TOO MUCH TIME ON MY HANDS
ROCKIN THE PARADISE
BABE
FOOLIN YOURSELF
HARRY'S HANDS
PRELUDE 12
SUITE MADAME BLUE
BEST OF TIMES

RENEGADE
COME SAIL AWAY

If you loved these songs don't miss this show. cheers ddy

I just don't like either faction playing one another's songs. Not Styx doing DDY's and DDY doing Tommy's. Just doesn't seem right.

Add Love At First Sight & Queen Of Spades. Ultimate Styx experience.

I can see your viewpoint and felt much the same way. However, the current Styx could not be doing shows by omitting all of DDY's material. By now we all should realize that a reunion between DDY and the rest of Styx isn't going to happen. So it is what it is and since that is the case I think DDY has every right to do what he is doing. It's not like DDY was some replacement, who came late to the game and did not have any involvement in the material he is playing.

Dennis needs to add Crossing The Rubicon. His last solo album was brilliant. Rubicon was at the head of the pack of GREAT GREAT songs. Its one of the best songs he or Styx EVER did and he should add it to his set.

Has he ever played Rubicon live? I know he's done OHYFN, TTNY, and Save Me but any others?

Does DDY ever do Call me? Underrated song from his 2nd solo.

while it is a very good setlist it is far from being the ultimate setlist to my ears.

even if DDY was back with tommy and JY I would not want to hear babe, show me the way or mr. roboto live at all. or for that matter desert moon even though it is a great tune.

to me the current version of styx's biggest setlist omission is the best of times. outside of that both of the setlists biggest omissions are just simply a matter of taste......for example, would I rather hear born for adventure or pieces of eight if I had the choice? things like that.

Pieces of Eight is SUCH an underrated tune. I thought that on the GI/PO8 DVD that Styx did a really great job of that particular tune. It was great to hear it live.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

just saw dennis, its a great show, but I think he should open with a couple of solo songs or a medley of solo stuff, get it out of the way for those of us who like it, and then play the styx stuff

Dennis is pretty much happy with the set list, but is willing to tweak it. Dennis' problem is that he is doing a 2 hour set most nights and he is still having a difficult time getting all the songs he wants to get in. Dennis' show is more organic than a Styx show. Styx is really getting too choreographed and programmed. Always seems like STyx is too willing to do the short set,
