Did Steve get surgery on his face?

I just saw this recent pic of Steve Perry posted on Facebook and it looks like he has a scar on his right cheek. Is it just an age mark, or is a it a scar?

Maybe some plastic surgery. He also could have had something removed, like a cancerous tumor, or a non-cancerous lump.

It was surgery to remove a mole.

I found the answer in Steve's latest fan update:

"Three weeks ago a routine mole was taken off my face and the lab report came back Melanoma skin cancer. I've had two surgeries in two weeks to remove all the cancer cells and I've been told they think they got it all and no other treatments are required."

That must have been a pretty big mole that they removed to leave a scar that size. I know people who've had cancerous moles removed from their faces and none of the one's I know have been left with scars that large on their faces.
