Sales figures for THE SEVENTH ONE?

Postby DracIsBack » Sun Aug 18, 2013 1:46 am

Anyone know how many copies THE SEVENTH ONE moved?

According to the legend, this album was supposed to be Toto's third big album and a return to the multi-platinum success of the debut album and Toto IV. Also according to the lore, a new record label exec at Columbia pulled the plug on promotion of this album and other albums like Bruce Springsteen's album at the time ... and they died on the vine. In the U.S., Seventh One didn't go gold (unlike Fahrenheit and Isolation) and only produced a minor hit in Pamela, which peaked in the top thirty.

According to the legend also, the album took off internationally. STOP LOVING YOU was a big hit in a number of countries (as big as Africa, Rosanna and Hold The Line in some areas), the album sold really well and it began a new era where Toto could play big venues internationally and make new music internationally while being ignored in North America.

So anyone know how well the album actually sold? I've heard it said it's the second most successful Toto album after IV, but I'm not sure I believe it because I've never seen unit sales figures.
