OK you started the discussion, now put up the votes - What are your favorite JY songs? (We'll keep this to the A&M years to keep it manageable). You can vote for up to 3 songs.

Double Life is the only A&M JY song I really listen to with any consistency.

I chose Snowblind. Also considered Midnight Ride and Double Life.

Snowblind, Half Penny Two Penny and Great White Hope. The harmonies on Snowblind are soooo friggin good. Goddamn I love that song!
But I also LOVE Put Me On and the orignal recording of Miss America. Miss America kicked Ass in 1977. I thought it blew the doors off of every Led Zeppelin song back then, and I was a big Zeppelin fan back in those days.
I personally love JY's voice on all the original recordings, lead and especially background. Styx would not be the amazing vocal band that they were without the Dennis/Tommy/JY three part harmonies. That's what set them apart from all the other bands.

Couldn't agree more. In my opinion except no substitutes.

Had to go with Snowblind. I like the progressive nature of it.

tough choices but the top two choices were clear for me;

great white hope
put me on

two of my fave styx songs ever.

i struggled with the third choice but eventually picked miss america....not because of how I feel about it today (i'm rather burned out on it these days)....but because I tried to remember back to how I felt about this song back before i grew tired of it......and when I do that there is no denying the awesomeness of it. so i went with it.

The JY love fest continues. I wonder what songs DDY would vote for?

Well, for an album he wants to pretend doesn't exist, JY is doing well with the two Paradise Theatre songs....maybe he should reconsider that Paradise Theatre is an album that shouldn't be forgotten!

If anything, more than any other album, Paradise Theatre does a nice job melding the three distinct styles of Styx - the balladry and showmanship of Dennis, the pop/rock sensibilities of Tommy, and JY's progressive (Snowblind) and hard rock (Half Penny) influences. All with a tight production sound and the best Styx harmonies of any Stygian record.

I agree. The harmonies on Paradise Theater are spectacular and the production is excellent. Just an all-around great record and another Styx masterpiece.
