Live in Poland

Postby Diffworlds » Mon Feb 17, 2014 8:40 am

CD Japan has Toto Live in Poland listed for an April. I think it was 9 April, but don't quote me on that. Didn't see track listing or too many details at this point.

Joseph's voice is just amazing on this :) Can't wait.

Also, the rest of the band is spot on as always.

If they include rarities like Going Home, I am sold. Wish they included Till The End from the other year. Love that tune...
Eagle records was able to get FIB Live in my local Barnes & Noble. Both they and Frontiers have been stepping up their game and getting artists in alot of different major retailers.

It's really overkill on FIB dvd. Even Luke and Greg sounds weirdly processed. How did we go from Live in Amsterdam which is pretty raw and live (in a GREAT way) to this?

This is listed on Amazon on the UK for 28th April 2014. Hopefully my guilt at my behavior will have subsided a bit by then and I'll feel OK with getting it!

:?: Did you leave a flaming bag of dog shit on Paich's porch and ring the door bell or something? It's just a band. It's just music.

For those of you using iTunes: Switch to the japanese iTunes store and access 90 sec samples of each track. It sounds spectacular! No kidding. Best Toto live album coming up, no doubt.

Holy... moly? This is the sort of live album... well, to cut it short: I thought Toto were at their live peaks in 1980, 1987, 1995-6 and 2004. Nevermind: their 2013 tour topped it all, and this album shapes up to be the ultimate Toto live album ever.

Hopefully they will release the audio from Copenhagen 2010 and Verona 2011 (or 2012?) at some point as well (owing to different setlists). But Live in Poland sounds like the real deal. This is it.

I've got the deluxe edition on pre-order. I think it at least has the CD and DVD of the gig. Maybe a booklet and the blu-ray aswell. I've hoping it's gonna have the whole lot. Either way I'll know Monday.

The beauty of it is (and this is one of the many reasons I love Amazon) is that even if the package doesn't come Monday - I can still download it thanks to the "AutoRip" service they do with some CD's they sell. So I can download it onto a blank disc to listen to in the car!

I just hope the package is in the kind of size that fits in with the rest of my Toto CDs.

Really looking forward to this release.

The track I'm most curious about hearing is "Falling In Between". That track was very obviously written for Kimball so I'll be interested in hearing where Joseph Williams takes it.

Spinner does sound pretty damn good. (Yes, Joe will always be the best.)

Also, it's funny that people bring up the lack of autotune. Not long after the filming, I tweeted Luke asking that they not over-do it with that kind of stuff. He actually responded, saying there will be no autotune because JOE DOESN'T NEED IT! (Ah! A dig at Bobby!)

But it's nice to see they followed through with that.

Cause, FUCK! this sounds good!! Sorry folks, I'll behave now. Have a good weekend all! I know I will :D

How freaking fantastic is the version of White Sister on this live record? This might just become my new favourite Toto tune

Agreed. This live version of "White Sister" is so explosive that it really burns. You can feel the energy of the audience, which is the hardest thing to accomplish on a live record. IMO, I also think this is the highlight of the album, along with the subtle and very TOTO-ish "The Muse".

As sad as it sounds, you don't truly realize how bad Toto sounded with Bobby until you hear them now with Joseph. What an amazing difference. Joseph's vocals are incredible, all the songs are in the original key, and the power and energy that this band now has live is something I haven't seen from Toto in decades.

Seriously, the current version of Toto that's existed since 2010 is by far the best line up since the 1982 Toto IV line up and I hope Paich/Luke/Porcaro/Williams continue to stay together for many years to come.

Went on Amazon a couple of days ago and pre-ordered the Blue Ray. After seeing them last year for the first time, I can't WAIT to see this!!! That was one of the best shows I've ever seen. AWESOME line-up. :D

Just got the DVD. I'm loving the performance and the energy. Cool to see a lot of songs live that I've always wanted to see live ... like Goin' Home and It's A Feeling (wow - Joe was awesome on that).

If there's a con, it's actually with how it was recorded. It felt sometimes like the film crew got a little out there. The quick cuts, hand cams and fast pans and effects in White Sister made it really hard for me to watch ... even though I love the band's actual performance.
