Ok. Well this is your typical JY interview. Tommy seemed to stick to his guns to saying he doesn't want to get back together. I think he has used that divorce reference before. To bad they don't remember that with Dennis they had there most success. If they where just nicer in there interviews. BTW Tommy should just write a new song fit JY ,Fooling Yourself (angry old man).

The one thing they have all consistently said is the success of the 70's and 80's came with a price. That price was Dennis feeling he could manipulate and control the band. So, I think they DO remember that success...but they also remember the frustration, anger, and drama. They made a decision to cut out the drama and the expense of the big $'s. That was their choice, and they stuck to it.

I don't think this interview is that bad personally.I think it's cool that they actually talk about Dennis extensively and that it was JY that first mentions him. That's cool at least. JY was also very complimentary to Dennis in the interview. The part where it gets crappy is where they split and of course that's going to be crappy. Styx obviously felt they had to strike while the iron was hot. Dennis obviously felt the band would wait for him and he kind of gambled and lost. It's just a crappy thing that happened, but if you look at the situation now, everyone seems happy enough. There was obviously some chemistry there that wasn't working. If it WAS working, there's no way the band would've moved on without him. It sucks, but that's how it went.

You never know- Dennis could have the last laugh in all of this. His new DVD sales may go through the roof and it seems he's going to do a studio album of new music, while Styx .... isn't. I know I will certainly be buying the DVD and his album of NEW music. I won't be buying Styx rerecordings. But I have bought their DVDs.

I'm a fan of BOTH camps. I understand how a split can happen like this. I support both camps. I'd support Dennis even more if he made his way to Seattle, but that's not happened.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Thought it was a great honest(through their eyes) interview. No one got blasted it was what happened ( in their opinion).

Exactly. Mentioning ddy by name would never have happened 10 years ago.

Personally, I don't feel someone asking for a delay due to health reasons as "gambling". Now if it was for other reasons such as DDY wanted to do some other non Styx project then that would be different.

This is true. At least they acknowledged him. Now if they could only stop the revisionist history on the website I could try to accept them a bit more.

I don't like how JY kind of made it sound like he's the reason they had a recording contract and had a hit song. He's way too self-aggrandizing. He would be nothing without Dennis, and to a lesser extent, nothing without Tommy.

I think it's safe to say JY's musical career would have been very different without the involvement of DDY and TS. If it was solely up to him he would have never had made it as far as he has. His solo works prove that.

JY's solo career was drastically hurt by being typecasted into a band such as Styx. Case in point is his flawless album 'Out On a Day Pass'. I was fully convinced after just one full listen that had JY not been associated with Styx this album would have easily achieved triple platinum+ status.

I think its safe to say that Styx may have ruined a Michael Jackson or even an Elvis type of solo career.

I think Gowan got short changed on this piece. After all, he is going to bring Styx into the "future".

I think without the other guys in Styx holding him back,
Dennis would have been the true polka king.

More joking then not. Tommy makes "the future" comment about Gowan and he isn't even interviewed for the piece.

That's probably because he isn't a "original" member

Sure. But, I thought they were discussing past and present. Since this is "the best version of Styx ever" (at least to JY) and Gowan is going to take Styx "into the future", whatever that means, certainly such an important member should be included in the interview. Right??
