Carlock and East out in August

Hungate back in and another studio ace fills in for Keith. Seeing Hungate play his parts will rock!

Keith is just temporary, it looks like Nathan is gone permanently .

I'm pumped about seeing Hungate actually. Will say this for Toto, despite all the lineup changes and occasional bickering, people leaving doesn't mean they won't be back at some point. See ... Bobby Kimball, Joseph Williams, Fergie Frederiksen, David Paich, Steve Porcaro, and now David Hungate. :-)

Very different from Chicago - when you leave that band, you aren't coming back.

I thought Nathan was fantastic, but he definitely was always billed as "with special guest". There's now a constant for me seeing them live ... different bassist every time. :-)

Chicago is just a shade below Journey in terms of embarrassing themselves at this point. Once Champlin was unceremoniously dismissed, that was it for me. The horn section barely even shows up, Scheff's voice is shredded, and Champlin is gone. Chicago justttt ekes out Journey in terms of legitimacy because Robert Lamm is still with them and of course sang some of their biggest hits.

Since most of the set is Hungate, it will be awesome. I'm a huge Nathan East fan as well. It's kind of disappointing his solo album is mostly covers - he can write his own stuff.

I know Hungate played with TOTO the other year, when they had the Rascal Flatts guy sing with them. It was some sort of songwriters hall of fame event. Never thought Hungate would tour with them tho. Wow.

Is Hungate rejoining them a permanent thing or just for the tour? That sure is a turn up for the books!

There's a video here!

Hopefully Hungate knows the later songs and doesn't need to read the music like he does here

I don't mind some reading, but I saw a cover band recently in Vegas, doing well known hits , and the guitarist had to read every frigging note of every song !!!! And he wasn't that great of a player either . Bizarre , no matter how famous the hit was he couldn't play it by heart. It was a lounge band too, not some stage production.

Keep in mind on those Musicians Hall of Fame Vids Shannon Forrest is the drummer as well....

I think Hungus being brought back is a brilliant move...for many many reasons.....but most especially it is absolutely an original Toto lineup minus Shannon who has played with them before....and yes, I mean Joseph as Original as he sang my two favorite albums besides Isolation...PLUS, he is singing 1000% stronger than BK....so yes, Toto made ALL the right moves.....

Keith is also a brilliant move...has the pedigree, the chops and the groove to bring Toto back groove wise more like the Jeff era....Simon is a phenom, one of the best....but Keith will do the old catalogue more like JP than Simon did....

As far as the album...well.....I better move our release date up, don't want to compete with that Monster...

Looks to be an amazing 2014/15 for the boys.....

The f'n deserve it...

I actually like Shannon better than Carlock as he sounds like a Porcaro's clone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMzHoKeKiko

Shannon is the man....my brother no doubt........NO DOUBT....BUTTT....Keith most likely is the best choice for the album and moving forward considering NONE of us know what the material dictates for the new album...

Give Luke and the guys credit for making some brilliant moves....Shannon and David will be a VINTAGE Toto show no doubt....NO two other guys in the world could.....BUT....Keith might just be the best guy for the material written and for upcoming material and tours after that...I TRUST Luke and the cats on their decision making....IT IS 2014....NOT 1982....and Toto has progressed sound wise and grown writing wise to fit a more modern YET classic sound.....when they played the MHOF they were doing only the old hits....THUS Shannon and Hungate.....but this is NEW material....Let's give em a shot before anybody casts any stones....

I feel REALLY strongly this album will slay FIB.....and that album sits right up there for me!!!

Uh-huh. And thus, they had Gary "Rascal Flatts" LeVox on vocals, instead of Bobby, Fergie (RIP) or Joe? I'm having a hard time computing that. Either way, I'm as excited for the new album as the next fan.
