New album title suggestions

Postby TotoStu » Thu Apr 24, 2014 9:38 pm

OK. I've got two. One of the suggestions is simply Toto XIII. Not mega original but it keeps a theme and the cover could be a new variation on the sword and rings motif they often like to use.

My other suggestion is Comeback Kings. A funny title which could be taken a lot of ways. What do you guys reckon?

I think the title is going to be Toto XIV. They have referred to it as such.

I think on their official FB, there is a photo of Joe wearing a ballcap that says just that. So "TOTO XIV" it is. Unless that is just tentative. All of their titles have been cool. Hydra, Turn Back, Fahrenheit, Isolation, Kingdom of Desire...all easy to remember, and seem to hint at lush melodic goodness inside the cd as soon as you get it out of its shoplifter-proof packaging

I think they regard their numbered albums as classics (i.e. TOTO I, TOTO IV, Seventh One), so that might be what they are going after this time around. I am curious as to the numbering hough. I guess Past to Present was number 8, Kingdom 9, Tambu 10, Toto XX 11, Mindfields 12, Looking Glass 13, Falling in Between 14... or do they disregard PtP as it only had four new songs? I guess that may be the case.

I wouldn't count P2P either. I think the new songs are okay, but that whole era is a pretty low point in the band's history. So this will be album #14.

It was more of a classic hits compilation w/ four new tracks. Say what you will about Bryon's effete stage presence, but tracks like "Out of Love" and "Love Has The Power" are classic TOTO imo.

Right. Just saying I wouldn't count it in the numbering when I saw "Toto's nth album" or whatever. I think the dance-y new songs on it featured some great stuff from Jeff and Mike, especially.
