Styx documentary. Could it happen?

Postby ztyxlynne » Thu May 22, 2014 5:25 am

I just got done watching The History of the Eagles documentary on TV. I was thinking, does anyone think something like that could be made about Styx? I know they had the BTM thing but that was a joke and did more harm than good. I think it would be a good story if told correctly. Chuck seems to be a wealth of info especially since I head him on the radio not that long ago. He seems to remember every detail. There is a whole lot of history and drama to keep things interesting. It would be so cool to see if they could get the guys to do it. Not in the same room but just to stop the bs and tell a story. Kind of like Sterling,s book but on film. I think it would be right up there with the Eagles or Rush documentary. What are your thoughts?

While I would love to see this, let's me honest, it would devalue into a pissing match and name calling exercise...I think BTM proved that. Heck, its been 15 years and JY can't let it go...And unless there is a lot of money to be made out of it, why would any of them want to do it?

Well, I guess that is what I mean. Sure if its done right like the Eagles was yes I am sure money is to be made. And lets be honest, JY is all about the money. I would like to know more about John and JC. There is alot of history and STYX has paid there dues, and there is alot of Styx fans out there. Produced maybe by some Hollywood big wigs, Adam Sandler I believe is a big STYX fan it could be done right. It would maybe make a nice chaptor in the Styx book, even if we dont get a reunion, hey a guy can dream right?

i don't think it will ever happen.

on a side note why is it such a horrific thing when folks say things intended to be a slam such as "JY is all about the money"? isn't nearly all Americans "all about the money"?

you guys act like that if there is money to be made on a styx doc then JY would be in because he would make money…….WOW, really????????

and its not just JY…..i hear this kind of stuff all the time directed at other artists, athletes etc…., yet all of us are trying to make money…i have a good job, live within my means and paying my bills is not a problem…..i'm not rich, but i'm not hurting either….BUT i sure would LOVE to have more……LOTS more if i could get my hands on it…….i don't feel like i'm a bad person or greedy because i want more money…….so I just don't understand why all the criticism towards JY over trying to make money.

No one has a problem with making money. The problem is how. At best, JY seems to be hypocritical. He slams the very things (ballads and concept albums) that made him a lot of money with Styx. He talks about this new rocking version of Styx and the "best version ever of Styx" but yet has no interest in making new music. He talks out of both sides of his mouth depending on which way the wind is blowing, or more accurately, what direction the money is flowing in...

I love the BTM of Styx.

That is actually absolutely true. If all JY cared about was the money then he would be %100 for a reunion and tour with Dennis.

Actually, I think JY found out that the average, casual or semi fan doesn't seem to care if it is the original singer singing the songs. That's who comprises the majority of people coming to see them. Even if DDY was still in the band, I think that the numbers would not change that much.
