Couldn't Dennis have added a song or 3 or 4, from his usual hits repertoire for his hard core or even newer fans? What would that hurt?? Hell, who knows he could even somehow luck out and have one of these GREAT GREAT songs somehow hit.
Crossing The Rubicon is one of his or Styx's BEST EVER. He knows its good. That's what he originally was going to name the album. Shi t it's far better than good its GREAT. Why wouldn't he include it here? How about 'Save Me' another GREAT song. One Hundred Years From Now was a hit #1 single in Quebec. Why is that not included?? Goodbye To Roseland( absolutely AWESOME), Back To The World ( important song to many Vietnam veterans). Why not include some of these or some of his other solo or Styx led songs????? Remember' Love At First Sight'?? Their last top 40 hit?? Son of Edge songs that never saw the light of day?????? Private Jones???? Something completely new???????? Why the hell not??
All we are getting here is Caught In The Act or Return To Paradise being played by a different band and sung a much older looking lead singer.

The positives
1. sounds seem really strong
2. Track listing on CD - really from a "hits" perspective, these are the best known Styx songs - nothing missing here that would be deemed essential.
2 nits
1. RTP left off DVD
2. No new studio tracks

Yogi and others, DDY WILL be following this up with a new album of all original music!!!!!!
yogi wrote:I also agree with Masque. His points are excellent & valid.
You could still add some other more recent songs or deeper cuts to the mix. Hell put em on a separate CD or DVD. Rubicon, Roseland, One Hundred Years From Now & others are all brilliant and deserve to be heard in a different format with his new band behind these songs.

i know this guy that is all the time running across dvd's and compilation albums at places like wal-mart and he is constantly buying things like that and he is the kind of casual fan that if he picks the product up and doesnt recognize 90% of the song titles he will not buy it. I dont think he's alone in being that kind of consumer.
masque wrote:brywool....your idea is valid and would be great for the 37 of us that would be interested enough to buy a dvd with several obscure or lesser known solo songs.

There's an easy fix to that. Just turn the Bass all the way down on your TV or sound system and it will sound like they are playing acoustic instruments.

Just wondering, do you mean that the band used the vocals during the concert, or that the Caught In The Act CD was doctored up?
