Doesn’t make it any less GREAT. It’s a GREAT GREAT album. It’s truly incredible. The song A Kingdom Ablaze is an absolute classic. I’ve been wanting this song from Styx for 40+ years. Run For The Roses lyrically May be DDY or Styx’s best work ever. The entire album is soo very solid.

I thought the Mission was absolutely fantastic also. Still it’s not quite the caliber of 26 East.

He will release Volume 2 because it’s for the fans and we all need DDYs music now more than ever, and DDY & those involved with him totally understand that

I hope 26 east vol. 2 does get released. There is a song on it called Run For The Roses that is said to be really good.

It’s on Volume 1 and IMO the second best song on the album next to ‘ A Kingdom Ablaze’. It’s a great song.

Had DDY released this CD in 85 instead of Desert Moon his solo career would of been legendary. Styx would of been in the R&R Hall of Fame years ago.

This album is GREAT!! I mean really great!! I also believe that 26 East is a concept album. 4 songs are classic Styx songs. A Kingdom Ablaze which is haunting prog and is just Great. You My Love is a really good DDY ballad. To me it’s a lot like Love At First Sight only far better. East of Midnight reminds me of The Grand Illusion and Damn That Dream is also a really really good Styx song. Run For the Roses is Desert Moon on steroids and the rest of the album is also very very good DDY solo material. The concept I believe is DDYs life showcasing Styx( his life’s work), Love (which includes his love of family, friends , country & the American way of life)! Chasing dream, Losing dreams (family, friends & Styx), and finally Fulfilling dreams and then searching for more. These are all the albums concepts. .

If I ever have the guts to write it down I’ll want To the Good Old Days played at my funeral. Since I hate thinking about that shit I probably won’t write it down.

I also thought The Mission was GREAT but not as good as this album.

I agree that this is better than Desert Moon. Guess I need to listen to the album again (not remembering run for the roses was on it)

Unfortunately the album doesn’t do much for me. I was looking forward to it, but it just doesn’t quite hit the mark. Especially with all the talent he has in his band. The production isn’t really up to par. Sounds thin. This is just my opinion. I’ve made it clear where my loyalty lies. 100 Years was just better. And I realize it was quite awhile ago, but it’s just superior in all ways. Styx’s Mission has an incredible sound. Far superior production. Again, my opinion only. My only wish is still one last reunion so don’t take anything I said as me bashing DDY. He’s still incredible.

Baron.. I think that is more of a Frontiers Records thing.. they are notorious for cheapening out when it comes to good sounding albums.

The Mission was recorded at Blackbird studios (also where the new Styx album is being recorded) which is one of the top recording studios in the country. 26 East was recorded in DDY's basement. Enough said.

With the bad sales of Volume 1 (not even a blip on the billboard charts), I would expect Volume 2 will get even less hype. Looks like volume 2 will be DOA if it ever sees the light of day. Maybe it will be released as an expanded re-release of volume 1 with a few bonus tracks.
