Dear DJ Mike
I have listened to this live recording of the Kilroy show and two others and the thing that jumps out at me is the crowd reactions.
They cheer and laugh and scream and yes boo exactly in all the right places. They are obviously engaged and understanding and really enjoying this incredible concert.
Yogi and others whom I have spoken to who attended the Cotton Bowl concert have conclusively refuted the idea that the Styx concert was booed. After listening to these shows it struck me that people who attended a very hot 10 hour outdoor festival who had no interest in Styx might not have been paying attention to the show at all just hanging out and getting high or milling about and heard the audience boo at the spots intended to illicit booing. Dr.R being a provocateur or when the band is dragged off stage by the MMM.
Yogi has also mentioned the no beer announcement also being a factor.
On none of these recordings do you hear an audience react other than what was expected. They sit through the movie and Roboto and cheer wildly at all the right places. There were plenty of opportunities to boo the movie or at the wrong time but it doesn’t happen.
Favorites of mine are Heavy Metal Poisoning.
JY, John and Chuck channeling Mel Brooks‘s Springtime for Hitler to poke fun at the MMM and Righteous. JY always looked like he was having a ball.
And Dennis and Tommy singing Haven’t We Been Here Before. Then Kilroy (Dennis) this time actually does pass the baton (guitar) to Chance (Tommy). It still gives me the chills.
