COTC #1 Rock Album on Billboard!

COTC is currently in the top 20 on Amazon overall new releases and top 10 rock new releases. Also still on the top rock album chart on iTunes. I think this is incredible for an album that was released a month ago. It’s not just the hard core fans who are buying it. This has got to be encouraging for the band and record label.

I has to be doing be than "The Mission". Wonder if we'll get to know the total sold?

It's going up a down a bit more now... on Monday it started the morning at #25 and went to #19 by the evening. This morning it's at #37. It dropped off iTunes charts of any kind as of early last week. Just knowing the actual numbers would be nice instead of these chart 'charts'

Greatest Hits 'resurgence' seems to be doing alright #242 in CDs&Vinyl on Amazon this morning... #60 in Top 100 Rock Albums on iTunes

July 27th Update:
COTC is starting to slow down - ranked #43 in Rock and #83 in CDs&Vinyl on Amazon. Greatest Hits ramped back to #111 in CDs&Vinyl which it hasn't seen since July 12.
GH is now #19 on the iTunes Top 100 Rock Albums and #84 on the iTunes Top 200.

I've been following it a bit lighter than previous, but it's 'bouncing around' a bit more through each day I think. Past 3 days I've looked (usually mid/late-day) it was at #41, 50, 60 in Rock and right now (11:30am EST) it's #39. Note that 6 ZZ Top (RIP Dusty) titles have jumped into the ranks of Rock, all above COTC.

Greatest Hits is still on the iTunes Top 100 Rock and Top 200 album charts.

I've been recording the ranks from Amazon and iTunes Charts (with a few days missing here and there) and might try to plot a couple out. Not going for precision accuracy but it should be a useful enough visualization

Crash of the Crown is #26 in new rock releases on Amazon today, so still holding up there.

Greatest Hits is taking off! #19 on iTunes Top 100 Rock albums and #69 on iTunes Top 100 Albums. Great album for a casual fan, so I guess not surprising it's seeing a big jump during their touring

I don't know what happened recently but Greatest Hits is now #4 on iTunes Top 100 Rock Albums and #17 on iTunes Top 100 Albums. WOW!

My educated guess is that Styx is touring to large crowds and playing a lot of the new material from their absolutely fantastic new album. Word of mouth in regards to their great shows plus their great new album has caused the surge. Easiest way for new fans to get fully introduced to a band is to purchase a Greatest Hits Album of that band.

Where do you look up total sales? I'd be curious where it is. I know "The Mission" only sold $15,000 in the US...I would expect CotC to have shattered that.

Of their past 11 performances found listed at Setlist.fm (all in August) it seems that 6 were at venues with 3,500 capacity or less (below 3,000). At best, they've played to about 55,000 over those 11 shows. Probably fair to call it ~30-45K.

Whatever it is, great to see Styx getting more exposure!

Moving back up again, now at #29. Tour starts back up this weekend. They are playing Milwaukee Summerfest on 9/4. I can't wait to read Suite's review of the concert.
