No CD yet for me with regular delivery. They called me today to tell me they don't take Discover Card (but it was an option on the website at the time of purchase). So I had to give them a new credit card. Maybe I will get it by Saturday or early next week.

You know what is going on, Dennis (like Santa) monitors this website, he knows who has been good and who has been bad. I got mine yesterday, ordered it off his website and got it in one week!!!! Unfortunately will have to wait till next week commuting to listen, family coming in, gobble gobble, etc. Will definately be on line next week for a review. Sounds encouraging Classic. All you guys and ladies have a great turkey day!

My WTTW DDY Double CD was waiting in my mailbox for me when I returned with my family from Thanksgiving. Ive listened to the ENTIRE CD twice now. Some particular songs I have listened to more often. My comments on the CD are: 1. Dennis NEVER sounded better. His voice TRULY gets BETTER with age. It's INCREDIBLE. To me he has BY FARRRR the GREATEST voice of my generation. Listen to the beginning of Show Me The Way. It's AWESOME!! Babe, Lady, and Suite Madam Blue sound incredible, better than ever actually 2. To me his STYX songs do sound pretty much like Styx backed by an orchestra. I have a bootleg copy from a concert a long time ago when Styx actually played with an orchestra. His songs are not that far removed from that. 3. Of all the songs on this CD as of now I also liked Black Wall the best. 4. I did not like his Jamaican version of Light Up. He did this in Houston a year or so ago and I didnt like it then either. 5. His best new song is Goodnight My Love. The other two I can do without. Both songs are average at best. Maybe they will grow on me? Ive listened To My God can Beat Up Your God often, and It still sounds REAL showtuneish to me.6. I do like the song With Every Heartbeat. Its not Dennis, but Mike Eldred, and Dawn Marie do sound very good, and its a very good song, and I am glad it is on this CD 7. This is a MUST own CD for ANY Styx or DDY fan. Finally, with all of that said and I REALLY like this CD but based on hearing Dennis talk to the audience, his new songs, Cyclorama, seeing Styx live, etc... I cant help but feel Dennis and Styx have NEVER been FURTHER apart...............

Got my CD in the mail on Monday. I have listened to it once but here is my quick impression.

"Black Wall" is the best track on the CD (at least to me). I can't believe how good this song sounds.

The sound of the overall CD seems "small" to me. It does not really open up. Dennis does sound great . He is up-front and very clear. I just don't sense the orchestra behind him being all that big and "live"! Maybe it is just me. I will listen to it on my good stereo and speakers and report back.

His new songs are OK. I am a huge Dennis fan and expected more I guess. Maybe it is just 2 out of 3 songs having something to do with God that is throwing me off.

I will listen to it again and report back.

I got mine over a week ago and listened to it a few times. A very good CD. I didn't care for the arrangement of "The Grand Illusion" or "Lorelei". Everything else was really very good with the orchrestra, especially "Castle Walls", "Lady", "Mr Roboto"and "Suite Madam Blue". I also liked the new songs too.

I received my cd within 3 business days when I ordered it off his website. :) I was going to buy one at the concert in Milwaukee, but like a fool, I waited to the end of the concert and they were all gone.

I enjoy the whole cd, especially since I was at that concert in Chicago. I really like his new songs too, especially "Hello God", I just LOVE it :)

I like the "reggae" part in "Light Up", it was fun to have something different in this song.

Classic, I hope you order the DVD and have another "countdown", that was fun to read!!!

Madame, Maybe I should start a count-up until I CAN order the DVD.....without resorting to eating Dog food for a month so I can afford the PBS pledge pricing structure !

I'd be willing to pay a samll premium, say $30.00 total for it, but I am willing to wait it out if I must !

Dennis CD

Postby Panjandrum » Mon Jan 05, 2004 7:34 am

I got the Dennis CD the day I left town for Christmas and just had time to rip to my iPod - WHEW! :-)

So, the CD is indeed very good. I agree though, that the orchestra and audience don't come through as well as they could. I was at that concert, and I have to say that the sound (and Dennis, for that matter) weren't quite as good as at the Rosemount theatre the year before, and I think that's what's going on here - since the original sound wasn't as good, the CD isn't as good as it could be. It is still very nice, but I bet Dennis wishes he had recorded at the Rosemont the year before...

Castle Walls is my favorite from the CD, followed by most of the other classic STYX stuff.

Wait, someone who likes Dennis & the
new STYX also? Yep!

Pan, I'll take it from your lack of comment on them that you were indifferent about the new studio cuts ?
