New Styx compilation coming and DVD?

Postby thebook » Mon Feb 23, 2004 8:29 am

Styx Collector 2.0 mentions that a 2 CD set compilation is coming this spring as well as "caught in the act live" DVD. Anybody else hear about this?

I too hope they add some songs to Caught In the Act DVD. I also would like to have it in 5.1 surround but that might be asking for too much from A&M/Universal.

Early last May or June I was the winning bid on a Styx Compilation from Korea. About 6 weeks later for under 50 dollars my Styx compilation arrived. I wonder if this is the same Styx Compilation that is about to be released. I will describe what I won, and now own.
It is a two CD set released by Universal Music. The 2 CD's came in a black cardboard box. In the middle in BIG gold writing it says The Greatest Hits Styx. What is really unique is that on the top of the box and on the jewel cases Styx is spelled Stix. The CD's are silver and have sandy color patches that actually have a rough feel on the sandy part. On the top of the box besides Styx being spelled Stix it says Universal 8420. On the back at the bottom of the box it says The ministry of culture & tourism Printed in Korea. There is also a really nice booklet and inserts that came with the CD. It is all written in Korean. Do you think I already have what is about to be released? Here are the tracks:

CD 1 --------------------------- CD 2

Why Me-------------------- Mr. Roboto
Babe ----------------------- Castle Walls
Boat On The River--------- Love at First Sight
Best Of Times------------- Pieces Of Eight
Show Me The Way------- This Old Man
Come Sail Away---------- Sing For The Day
Crystal Ball----------------- Born For Adventure
Dont Let It End -------------- Loreli
Suite Madam Blue----------- Music Time
First Time------------------ Too Much Time On My Hands
Mademoiselle---------------- Fooling Yourself
Snowblind-------------------- Blue Collar Man
Borrowed Time----------------- Renegade
Queen Of Spades---------------- It Takes Love
Love In The Midnight

Could this be what Universal/A&M is about to put out here? I really cant believe I own this. It is such an Awesome collection.

Froy,
I have pretty much gotten away from E-bay since last summer. I maybe glance at Styx items once a month. Is this a common Styx Collection? I think it is a TOTALLY awesome collection of Styx songs. I know Lady is ommited, but I figure that has something to do with it orginating on Wooden Nickle. If it is a common sale now, what is it selling for? I've never seen this item again. I actually only saw it once, and that was the one that I won. I have got a hunch this is what is going to be released. I hope not, cause as GREAT as this compilation is I sure would like to hear some of the rare unreleased cuts, I know that Dennis, Tommy, and A&M have.

The CITA DVD has been doing the rounds for a while on ebay, it is a vhs transfer, the picture quality is very good, and sound in stereo. I hope the new one is a digital remaster with 5:1 dolby, and of course the FULL SHOW

Rather than a CITA DVD, I'd rather see a comp of Styx videos, something like what Journey just put out.
What videos would we all like to see on a Styx Video DVD collection :?:
I must think on this one first.

I can totally see where you would dig this since you have no cd burner, and it's a great list. A lot of what is on here is what I put on my comp cd's, then again there are eight that I would take of and replace with something else. Very cool though for a true fan to have a real deal and not just a cd-r that someone made or a burned comp.
What is the rarest thing you think you own of a Styx item?

An original Styx 1 Wooden Nickle Album autographed by Dennis, John, Chuck, Tommy, and JY. When Styx did their original Main Event Tour back in 1978 at The Minnesota State Fair a buddy I went to the concert with older brother was working security at the show. He got the autographs for me before Styx came out while New England was playing. He found me right before Styx hit the stage. It was almost hard to really enjoy the concert because I was so worried about nothing happening to the album and cover. Ive got it matted and framed with the album next to the autographed cover.I sure wish I could of gotten John C's. autograph too. I have a ton of Styx stuff, but this is what I value the most. I also really like all of the concert footage I have found and pieced together into different tapes.

Not so lucky to have anything autographed by the boys....and I ordered my CD of Styx ( I ) direct from One Way records when it came out....unfortunately, it had the "cartoon cover"

Just yesterday I was browsing a local store, and saw it re-issued with the
original cover....I had to pick it up of course.

I love the simplicity of that CD....very low budget, just the guys playing their axes.

That would be cool, but I passed up CITA on tape a while back in the store so I will finally get this.

It would be nice if a couple rare songs are put on (like Unfinished Song); the version i got sounds like somebody recorded it from their record player.

I don't have Essential Journey and will not be buying this either unless something rare is added.
