A Personal DVD

Postby Ash » Thu Mar 04, 2004 3:39 pm

Hey Everyone;

I'm working on a personal DVD using iDVD and what I am doing is putting a video tape of a bunch of Styx videos into my computer using iMovie and organizing everything into a DVD. I'm doing this to preserve the quality (what is left anyway) of the original tape.

I'm doing this to learn how to modify themes in iDVD and I'm thinking about making a custom Styx theme using some original graphics and styx iconical based buttons.

Anyway, I wanted to collect some images (preferably high resolution stuff) to put this together. I have no time table for this as I'm just doing it in my spare time. Whenever possible I'm re-dubbing the audio from the original CD's and synching to the video because that will make the audio quality of the DVD much higher.

I'm also working on something similar with my Kansas videos.

Anyone have any suggestions or places where I can get some good pictures that I don't have to jump through a bunch of hoops to use on a personal project?

Thanks;
Ash

yeah, but is it "official" or a bootleg? If it's official where can I find it and does it cost an arm & leg?

Here's the only information that I could find that will be for sale. This is from the Styx Colletor site:

2-19-2004 Two New Styx Issues from Universal/A&M: Anthology and Caught In The Act Live
Universal/A&M will be releasing two new Styx items: what appears to be a 2 CD set entitled Anthology, which will most likely be another hits collection that will hopefully contain one or two rare tracks. This is probably the long awaited box set (in the industry, a 2 CD set is considered a box set). Also, it appears that finally Caught IN The Act Live will be released on DVD at the same time. We here at StyxCollector.com heard that May 4th was the release date, but according to this link, they are due out in Canada on April 27th. As soon as any more details on these releases are known, they will be posted here.

I don't know anything about a video collection that was for sale, legally.

I wonder if the 2 CD collection will have non-Dennis songs again. Wow another "greatest hits" from Styx. Oh boy, I hope the cd will contain "Blue Collar Man" - :roll:

The good news is, I'm very excited for Caught In The Act on DVD, it's about time :D

Does anyone know all of the Styx videos that were made? How about solo work from each member?

I wish I could remember them all. Here's a few that I can remember:

Music Time
Show Me The Way
Too Much Time On My Hands
Don't Let It End
Love Is The Ritual

Dennis Solo:
Boomchild
Desert Moon
Don't Wait For Heroes
Call Me

It would be nice to have all of these on a DVD format :D

Styx also did a video for 'Havent We Been Here Before', to me next to Show Me The Way, it was the best video Styx did. It was on TBS Night Flights, I dont know if MTV ever aired it or not. Ive got a copy of it on VHS.

Oh, I remember Night Flights. How long ago was that? I remember watching those at night and the Midnight Specials.

Hey SpaceAce..

I have the original tape that I got from a company called WolfRam video some time back. A bunch of styx-mailing-list people and myself all pooled money (it was very expensive) and I duped it for everyone. I then loaned the tape to Dennis DeYoung's web master (he lives near me) and never saw it again mostly due to my lack of follow-up in trying to get it back.

Anyway - I'm just dumping the VHS copy that I have into my computer and making the DVD - so it's likely the same one. I just don't have a complete listing as I've been too busy to flip through the tape and write down what is on it.

There was also a video for "This is the Time" off the Back to the World DDY album. Mainly done for its' inclusion on the Karate Kid 2 soundtrack.

Never saw the whole thing, just caught a glimpse as it was ending.
