Curlewski vocals

Postby Adam » Fri Mar 05, 2004 1:55 am

Excuse my ignorance to info over thirty years old, but did John Curlewski ever sing a lead vocal on any Styx albums?

Let's see, I hope I have these right:

Styx I - 1972

None

Styx II - 1973

"A Day" - Wrote lyrics & sang lead vocals
"You Better Ask" - Wrote lyrics & sang lead vocals

The Serpent is Rising - 1973

"As Bad As This" - Wrote lyrics & sang lead vocals
"22 Years" - He didn't sing lead, but he wrote the lyrics
"The Serpent is Rising" - Co-wrote lyrics & sang lead vocals
"Krakatoa" - Co-wrote lyrics & sang lead vocals

Man of Miracles - 1974

"Rock and Roll Feeling" - Only Co-wrote lyrics
"Havin' A Ball" - Only co-wrote lyrics

Equinox - 1975 (John C's last album)

"Mother Dear" - Wrote lyrics & sang lead vocals

After John left Styx, he was in a band called Spread Eagle in Chicago. I can't find if anything was ever released by that band in the late 1970's.

The Serpent iS Rising is my least favorite Styx song of all time. I like A Day though. I really don't know the old stuff so much.

John and Dennis do sing this song. The lower harmony parts are Dennis. John's voice is double tracked on his lead parts.

You know, I just love this song. Everything about it. It was one of John C's best and is terribly underrated as a very good progressive rock song. It is one of my all-time fave Styx songs.

Lifegiver dug this one up out of three year old posts. Must have been bored.

LOL! I didn't even look at the original post dates! This was right before I joined the group. Over three years ago, wow!

Where in the world does the time go. .....Oh yeah.....heh.

Still, I was glad to get the opportunity to talk about "Mother Dear".
