Now You'll Buy It

Postby SuiteMadameBlue » Thu Mar 18, 2004 10:20 am

You won't just receive the Anthology cd, this is included:

Two days before the tour kicks off, Styx releases "Come Sail Away: The Styx Anthology," a retrospective set featuring 35 digitally remastered tracks culled from throughout the band's 30-year career. The album will also include a "deluxe booklet, many rare photos," and "an essay with detailed credits," according to a press release.

Wow, a deluxe booklet with MANY rare photos? Are they going to be pictures of the band with Dennis cut out? Are they even going to include pictures of Dennis? I wonder what the "essay with detailed credits" are going to be? Maybe Tommy did write all the songs and now we're going to find out.

I'm just having fun with this, no hard feelings

I'll say it again. The way that many records company's are combating cd sales being down, file sharing and burning sharing is that they are including a DVD with new cd releases.
Being that Styx has releases so many of these type of cd's lately, people are able to burn this cd themselves, and they aren't that popular anymore-they really should have included a DVD with this, but of old classic stuff. Even if it was just promo vids.
I am well aware what goes into this, but some classic 'something' on DVD with this may have sold me more than maybe even a couple new tracks.

I WILL purchase it DAY 1. If your gonna bitch tell Dennis to get off his LAZY I rarely record anymore new material unless my wife can sell a copy of her new book ass. He is also releasing the same material over and over again. Remember: Return To Paradise, The Millinium Collection, The Ultimate Collection, and his new CD now. Correct me if I am wrong but almost EVERY one of these songs has been done before and is on a previous CD. How many times has Styx ll been released under some other type name?
Quit your bitching. Dont purchase it, its that damn simple. As for me I'll buy it!!!!! I for one would rather have the choice, Id rather have something released than nothing at all!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone,

I have it from a legitimate source that Dennis will indeed be included in the photos. He will however have those "to protect the innocent" black bars over his eyes like on the ACDC-Dirty Deeds album.

Tommy will use Forrest Gump technology to overlay his really cool current "Grizzly Adams out of Detox" look over his earlier "Androgenous Pre-Pubescent Flared Khakis" look.

JY will keep the photos of when he used Pert for Thick hair as opposed to Pert for Fine hair like he uses now. He will do his best to minimize the focus on his really cool boots he once wore. Maybe he could wear those fab "out on a day pass" glasses or perhaps his Dr. Righteous outfit.

But more than the photos this album is a chance to buy blue collar man for the fifth time. Thanks guys.

sad... we're all having fun and getting along in what is sometimes a very tense situation and we have some come in here :cough:chicagostyx:cough: come in and get their panties in a wad and throw obvious un-fun bombs and flames. Lighten up man... There are plenty of people who would disagree with your ad-hoeminen attack - and plenty more who could make equal cases against other artists/musicians that you may care for. That *isn't* the point here.

gg. thx.

I almost want to buy so I can read the "detailed credits"....words and music by Dennis DeYoung, but I suggested the chord shift during the melody (James JY Young). Nah I cannot compare this to what Dennis has done. Yes he has a greatest hits collection (like any other artist that has ever existed) and one live album from his tour that does feature songs from his career. At last count how many live albums does just this version of STYX have? two or three? For the record he was against a couple of the compilation CDs that have came out over the last several years...outvoted in his words. Just like the same money grubbers who currently reside in the STYX camp that couldn't afford Ted Nugent or Night Ranger to tour with them. Where is this rarities CD they keep threatening to release at, with the rare live songs and unreleased songs. That would be a nice release to the true fans of the group. Maybe they could even get a couple of great Billy Bob outtakes from the carrot CD, you know a different belch this time Billy. By the way your ex is looking way to hot since she dumped you. Must have been after she heard him sing.

Thorton...DeeJay, you know that great guest "singer" that Tommy invited to sing the pig song on the recyclorama CD. Along with those other scary talents, Tenacious D and Jack Black. How bout a lovely duet with Britney on the next CD.....JY and her can sing you don't bring me flowers anymore, that is sure to bring in the young crowd

I sure wish someone would get that Dennis Show tune board going. This Dennis crap on a STYX board is getting old. I think some of you need to quit living in the past. Get over it!

ChicagoStyx, none of your posts make sense. All you do is talk negative about Dennis whenever you come on here. This board doesn't just talk about Dennis, it's all about Classic Styx, Styx and the members (past and present) of the band Styx. You never have anything positive to say about anything.

Dennis started the band Styx. He was one of the main songwriters of Styx. He was one of the main vocalist of Styx. Even though he has solo material and tours solo without the band Styx, he will always be associated with Styx.

Dennis is out with a new double live cd, Styx had their Carrot Cd, now another Styx Greatest Hits is due out soon, plus the 5 videos. Dennis is included with the Greatest Hits.

I enjoy living in the past as well as today. YOU NEED TO GET OVER IT!! No ones making you read the posts here. If you don't like what's posted here then don't come back, go to your Tommy Board!!!

I can't help but find humor in someone who slams Dennis all the time yet still calls himself (guessing here) ChicagoStyx. Have ya noticed lately that there is only one Chicagoan in the band now? Why not just call yourself ChicagoJY that would be more appropriate.

Why not Chicago/Montgomery/PartsUnknownStyx? I've got a couple of others, but some things are better left unsaid.

By the way it is not always about Dennis. Or is it?

perhaps what we need is a "chicagostyx" board... because every one of his posts is far more about him or complaining about others than it ever is about the topic at hand.

The bidding for Dennis has just reached $32.51. Folks.... this is your chance to actually OWN a former Stygian. A deal at twice the price I'd say. 8)

Or people could quit living in a "selective" past you know like how bout the new styx dropping Lady, Come Sail Away, The Grand Illusion and some of those terribel DDY songs off their set list, he is just a broadway crooner anyway right....just play those new great songs, ya know off one their triple platinum albums: Cyclorama, Arch Allies (one of the two verisons of Blue Collar Man would suffice, wait that is in the past too), or even that great rockers CD they put out recently (no, that is all past stuff as well)....maybe even the diff version of man in the wilderness off this so called anthology CD....wait didn't they do an anthology type of CD last year...."I'm so confused abouth the things I read"...

GaryS, what's the bidding up to now on Dennis - LOL

I've been reading other Styx boards and it's the same complaint, there should have been a few "rare" songs added.

All we needed was 2 or 3 "rare" songs and it would've been worth buying it.

Swwskj - You're FUNNY:

Why not Chicago/Montgomery/PartsUnknownStyx?

That was a good one. Yes, only one current band member of Styx still lives outside the Chicago area.

Bidding on Dennis is up to (ahem) 76.01!!! Now remember folks... as it states in the auction description, all of the money goes to Dennis' favorite charity (whatever that is). 76 DOLLARS. Man. The bidding isn't over and it's already passed expectations.

Good one Lord,

I'm sure we can find other "High Quality" guest singers on their next studio album, how about Steve Buscemi, or how about Michael Clarke Duncan..His version of "Leaving on a Jet Plane" would sure give Silly Bob Snorrrrton a run for his money on the pig song.. And as for Britney, nah , too expensive, more like Cher, I heard she comes cheap..Her and JY would really do a good version of "Aint No Mountain High Enough" or "Don't Go Breaking My Heart"..

DeeJay...

Hey DeeJay since Night Ranger and Ted Nugent are to expensive for JY, "money is secondary, performing for you people is the main thing", I suggest a couple of big time guests for the next tour as well as the new album/CD could be the Captain and Tenille and The Starland Vocal Band.
SVB could open with their huge hit, afternoon delight, then their follow up smash...uh nevermind. Can't wait to see JY and Toni doing a duet on muskrat Love or do that to me one more time....

OMG, that is funny!!! I can't believe someone brought this up!! I was just talking about "Afternoon Delight" the other day and whatever happened to The Starland Vocal Band. Well after their "one hit wonder" they broke up and each couple got divorced. So I'm sorry they won't be able to play. But then again, VH1 can get a hold of them and do a "Bands Reunited" segment, hmmmm. Just remember, if you see this episode in 6 months, it was my idea - LOL

I still can't believe Styx had Billy Bob on their latest cd. No offense to Billy Bob, but that's really scraping the bottom of the bucket and then to brag about it. Ewwww

Gary, how is the Ebay auction doing? What are we up to? LOL

Ha Ha Ha Ha..Replying to you Lord is getting to be a full time Job which is dangerous.. I might need surgery to repair my split gut but I'll try to persevere...

Good one about Captain and Tenille,of course you know that JY and Toni are going to dedicate a song to Billy Bob as a guest singer," My Mama Told Me You Better Shop Around."

Also JY and company is sure to show up at the county fair circuit with the likes of Donna Summer and Abba..I can see the combined set of Dancing Queen, Hot Stuff, and Everything Is Cool... 8)

Maybe Dawn Marie's check bounced and she didnt have enough in the bank to keep up with Suzanne's bid for him ?

Either that or it's a great metaphor for his falling star ?
