Sound Off On Radio Stations

Postby DeeJaySTYX » Mon Apr 12, 2004 5:22 pm

Here is an opportunity to sound off or praise the radio statios in your area...

Y-95 95.3 Winnebago/Rockford..The classic hit station..Powered by Radio Works..Their programming is know as the no repeat work day and now running Classics A-Z...Classic hits from Styx, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Boston, Foreigner, and other Classic artists make this station really great to listen to... 8)

WXRX 104.9 Rockford..The Rock Station also powered by Radio Works.. This Station plays modern Rock such as Nickelback, Staind, Jet, GodSmack, Limp Bizkit, Drowning Pool and other Modern Rock Bands..This Station also plays classic music from Van Halen and Led Zeppelin, but no Styx..

WKMQ 96.7 Rockford.. The Eagle- Classic Rock That Really Rocks..A great alternative to Y-95..This station concentrates on harder classic rock, such as Motley Crew, Metallica, Stone Temple Pilots and older classic rock bands such as Queen, Styx, Rush, and other bands you would find on Y-95.. 8)

WIBA 101.5 Madison.. Classic Rock..When I'm in Wisconsin this is the channel I listen to... 8)

WZOK 97.5 Rockford.. A better mix of music..Yea, Right!!!! This station's idea of a better mix of music is to play Britney Spears' "Toxic", J-Kwon's"Tipsy", and other garbage like that 5 times each in a 4 hour span...So I will try to be nice and say, with the exception of way back Wednesday which is half way descent;
Your Programming Sucks!!!!!!

Any other stations worth mentioning?????

WMYX 99.1 - Milwaukee, only because my friend is a deejay here and she's also a co-host for my cable show and the program director is a neighbor  They play the top 40 songs (over and over). But I still enjoy it. Dennis called in for an interview and talked to my friend back in October.

WKTI 94.5 - Milwaukee, Top 40 songs, but I love the Flashback Fridays and the 80's at 8:00. I just heard "Mr. Roboto" last night!!! They always play my songs for me when I request them. I usually request "Lady" and "Desert Moon" on Fridays when I'm driving around. When Dennis is in town he makes an appearance at the radio station and usually ends up playing Styx songs on the accordian - LOL

WKLH 96.5 - Milwaukee, Classic Rock music. They spot light Styx occasionally. Dennis was just in the studio here 2 times this past Fall, you can see the pictures on his website. His last interview was over an hour.

If I don't have the kids in the car, then I go to one of the heavier rock stations where they play loud, hard rock!!! I can get a few Rockford and Madison stations in too. I'm one of those people that turn the radio stations all the time - LOL

Seattle rock stations just plan suck. Play the same songs no matter if it is from the so-called largest classic rock collection station or the so called modern rock station, it is always the same songs by the same groups. No variety in rock music on the Seattle airwaves what so ever.

M.J., please tell us how you really feel - LOL

It's sad with today's radio play. Most of the stations are owned by Clear Channel and the 3 others, which I can't think of right now. They are told what to play all across the U.S. It's sad for any music fan, we have to hear over and over the same songs or the same artists. We don't have the variety anymore.

I have heard of Clear Channel, but the two factions here in the Rockford area are Radio Works( Which owns Y-95, 104.9 WXRX- The X ,B-103.1 Lite Rock in Rockton, and WNTA 1330 AM Talk Radio) and Cumulus Broadcasting(WZOK 97.5, WKMQ 96.7, and WROK 1330 AM Talk Radio)....

As far as hearing the same songs over and over, that is what 97.5 WZOK is all about..Some of the top forty songs are played anywhere from two to four times in a five hour span..

104.9 the X and lite rock B-103 repeat songs to a much smaller degree..Whenever I hear a song repeated on these two stations is usually because of a different DJ..

Y-95 is my personal favorite station..They have The No Repeat Work Week in which you won't here the same song being played twice on the same day...

96.7 WKMQ is a close second with limited repeating...
