THE CRIB

Postby yogi » Sat Apr 17, 2004 3:51 am

I've got some GOOD news for all of you YOKOITES. Dennis has a new feature on his website called The Crib. I guess how it works is that you write Dennis a letter or drop him an E-mail, and Yoko answers it.

I just read in The Crib where Dennis is working on getting to Texas. GREAT!!!!! I know some of you cant stomach Gowans vocals on Dennis's songs. I'm just wondering since she is his voice on the E-mails if we can expect her in the future to be singing lead on such classics as 'Come Sail Away', 'Lady'(or would it be 'Man'?), maybe even 'Babe'. I guess she could hold a mirror up to herself while she sings it. We can then start a new 'assembly line' comparing Gowan to Yoko.

I'm happy as hell Dennis is expanding his website,he has new T-shirts for sale, theres more tour dates in the works. This is ALL GREAT news for us fans. But, come on..... answer your own E-Mail, and letters. Dennis has one mouthpiece in Gowan, I guess he now has another!!!!!

One Edit. When I loged onto The Crib a few hours ago there was not a picture on it. Now there is a picture of some woman on it, at the top. That cant be Yoko, is it??? To me, it looks like Tony Montana's sister from Scarface. Is Dennis a closet Scarface fan??,or is Yoko???????

Yogi, I just knew it was a matter of time until you saw his site and the changes  You can call me a DeYoungian!!!

"Tales From The Crib" has been on there for a couple of weeks now. It'll be updated soon. If the question is for Dennis he'll answer it. It all goes to the webmaster to add to the site. Sorry to let you down, but Dennis will be the only singing lead on "Babe", "Lady" and "Come Sail Away" on his tour.

I saw the part about Texas, hopefully you'll be able to see him. He'll be coming back to Milwaukee in the Fall. I was hoping it would've been the summer.

I have the black & white Roboto concert shirt. I wore it to the Dream Theater concert and got a "thumbs up" from the band :) I'm going to buy the black & pink "Lady" shirt when I'm in New York next month.

I actually sent Dennis a detailed E-mail today praising him for what I have ALWAYS believed is the GREATEST Album of all time in Equinox. I also asked him quite a few questions about John C.
I am REALLY hoping he will respond. How will I know if the responses are his or his wifes?? I am also REALLY REALLY hoping he gets within 300 miles of me in Texas. If he does I'm there. San Antonio Texas would be asking for tooooo much. Besides the symphony in San Antonio is in HUGE financial trouble. Houston or Dallas are much further but still very dooable. Had to add the extra (o)my son is watching Scooby Doo!!!!!!!
You saw Dream Theatre, how awesome were they? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE their music. Finally, who is the woman at the top of The Crib??????

Why don't you make THAT your first question posed to the "cribmaster"?

Yogi, Dream Theatre was VERY awesome. I had front row seats and was handed a guitar pick and the setlist from the show. It was an odd crowd of all different ages. There were like 1 female to every 200 males. There was NO line in the women's bathroom, a first ever at a rock concert - LOL It was billed a 4 hour show but only lasted 2 1/2 hours. I guess a few members of the band and crew had the flu. I think I'm only going to see a few bands this summer, I'm concerted out already :)

Looks like your question was posted and answered on DDY's website. Check it out.

Suite Madame Blue sent me an E-mail telling me that earlier. I had not been back to Dennis's site since I asked those questions. I am really glad she answered them. I do wish she felt at liberty to speak more about John . He's a mystery. Thanks for the heads up Bugsy. We Styx loving Texans must styx together!!!!!!

Yogi, does this change some of the opinions you have expressed here previously regarding "Yoko" ????

I've gained alot of respect for her, "The Crib" is above and beyond what she or Dennis need to do, yet it shows a respect for
people like you and me that she would take the time to do it.

I've seen other bands do similar types of Q&A sections in which they do not treat the fans questions with the same level of respect. I think it's pretty cool...

I was probably waayy tooo critical of her in the first place. Its that first impression type thing. To me she just came off as the ULTIMATE Bitch in Behind The Music when she scolded Tommy about Damn Yankees, Babe, and then they showed the mooning. I should of been smart enough to realize that VH1 probably had about 5 hours of statements from her and they only used maybe 20 seconds form her for to show controversy from a different perspective. To answer your question yea, I was wrong, and no more Yoko jokes.

I still wish that it was Dennis answering the questions, like Todd and Glen do. Tommy also does sometimes answer questions on his Crystal Ball website. Todd and Glen really do an excellent job of keeping their fans informed.

There were a lot of hours taped for Behind the Music featuring Styx. Dennis' children, a few of Dennis' close friends and a couple other musicians were interviewed. All those people made it to the editing floor and Suzanne was the only one shown supporting Dennis. Just a little known fact. If they would've had the feelings shown from the other "Dennis supporters", the Behind The Music sure would've been different. With all the film footage that was taken, they could've had about 4 more episodes just on Styx. I would love to see the "uncut" version, but I don't think we'll see the light of day with that - bummer.

I would be sticking up for my husband too. I probably would've done the same thing if I was her.

Behind the scenes in the entertainment industry is sometimes ugly. I've witnessed backstages at concerts and witnessed inside the hotel rooms of an NFL team years ago. I give a lot of credit to the wives of rock stars (or other musicians) and sports figures. I give a lot of credit to those that have kept their marriage going, especially if it's their only marriage. When you see "behind the scenes" your whole outlook can change.

Like usual, just my opinions.....

Oh, by the way, I have a friend that works for VH1.

Just to let you know, Styx will not be one of the bands for "Bands Reunited". It looks like they're going to continue on bands that somewhat made an impact on the music and that the members went their separate ways for whatever reasons. We won't be seeing Journey or REO either since they continue to tour, even if it's without their original members.

:)

Everyone knows that VH1 had an agenda with the Styx Behind the Music. Basically it was to show Dennis DeYoung as an evil, controlling genius. Thus, they could not present anyone who might speak in his favor, or, horror!, show him in a positive light.

It backfired to a large extent because Dennis came off as so non-threatening and likeable. And, they kept having to put in all those caveats. (He took control, but when he did, the records started selling. He wanted to include Babe to everyone's disdain, but, of course, it was their only number one song and made them all rich. Yada Yada).

It certainly would be interesting to see the missing footage, Suite. That will never happen, however.

I understand that, in the end, NO ONE was happy with how the show came out. No surprise there.

Flawed as BTM is, I am glad I have that particular bit of Styx history on tape. If for nothing else than some of the great archival footage of the band.

I went to the DDY site and was reading the fan mail and came across a detailed letter about Equinox, If Born For Adventure was released as a single, and the departure of JC... I thought to myself " Man, That sounds like Yogi..."

So Yogi, Did you read the response and what do you think of the response ????

DeeJay...

P.S. I am sure glad that you thanked Dennis and not Dennis and Yoko... 8)
