Yep, I'm fully aware of the ipod and if I had chosen that format we would be talking about at least a thousand songs.. That is why I went with the CD format so we can narrow it down to 28, 14 each CD...But that's O.K., Ash, If you don't want to go along with the Ideal, that's alright by me.....

Deejay,

Great topic. However i might need a day or two to reply properly. My sons middle school soccer team just won our first round playoff game ( I'm the coach) and the next day or so will be crazy. I promise I'll respond when possible.

Yogi,

I've got two burners and about 1,000 CD's! Just send me a private email and we'll work out any mix CD's you want. (I do it all the time) And I'm SERIOUS, I don't mind shipping them FREE. (Business expense my friend)

ya'll have a good one

Still working on my list. It's always fun to see a non-mainstream song or two catch your eye when looking at everyone's lists! Bobby Jean? Great, great song, pieces. Also, I'd almost forgotten all about Miracle by JBJ. I really got into that song back in the day. Yogi, I LOVE Peace Sign by Night Ranger, one of my favorites from Seven (also a great album). And of course, all the Styx songs. Did they even have a bad non-mainstream song? :D

OK, my compilation CD’s. OK, so it’s 15. I can usually get 16 or 17 on one, depending.

Whoo! Too many I wanted! To get to 15 per disk, I was rejecting something like 50 that I REALLY like.

In no particular order.

To Rock Out To:

Crazy Train – Ozzy Osbourne
Born for Adventure – Styx
Song for America - Kansas
Hysteria – Def Leppard
Life’s Been Good to Me – Joe Walsh
Silent Lucidity – Queensryche (ok, this one doesn't rock, but kinda)
When the World is Running Down – The Police
It’s the End of the World as We Know It – REM
And She Was – Talking Heads
Modern Love – David Bowie
Here I Go Again – Whitesnake
Lorelei – Styx (Live RTP version)
Mother Dear – Styx
Borrowed Time – Styx
I’ll Get Lucky – Dennis DeYoung

To Kick Back To:

Desert Moon – Dennis DeYoung
Beneath the Moon – Dennis DeYoung
Could it be Magic - Barry Manilow
Close Your Eyes – Ozzy Osbourne and Lita Ford
I Don’t want to Live Without You - Foreigner
Love Bites - Def Leppard
Boys of Summer – Don Henley
Ordinary World – Duran Duran
The Dance – Garth Brooks
Diamonds and Rust – Joan Baez
Sweet Baby James – James Taylor
Live to Tell – Madonna
Still Crazy after All These Years – Paul Simon
In Your Eyes – Peter Gabriel
Love, Reign O’er Me – The Who

Too many songs! Too many choices! Aaaarrgh!

Scott, that is just a GREAT list. We continue to have the same music taste.
A little side note back at you. Stryper has a new live album coming out this month on the 18th called Stryper-Seven Weeks Live In America 2003. They did a tour last year. They played around 40 venues and took the best of each to make this cd. They also did a concert in Peurto Rico and filmed for a DVD coming out later this year. They ended up playing to over 70,000 people total. Michael Sweets voice is insane and sick. His voice has held up just as good as Dennis' if not gotten better. Unreal is all I can say. You have to hear this new live cd and look out for the DVD.
They will also be playing at Disney's Night Of Joy this year in September. Many hot Christian acts will be there over September 9th-11th.
http://www.stryper.com/
http://disneyyouthprograms.disney.go.co ... age&bhcp=1
Stryper has taken so much crap over the years and so have I for admitting to liking them, but I could care less. IMOP they were/are the best hair band and it's a darn shame they got lumped into that genre because they are SO talented and the music kicks ass. They got screwed by the Christian world because people thought they were making a joke of God and they got it too by the secular world because of their message. No one put the message they did to the music they did and it's too bad that they got judged on the couple of songs that topped MTV and the way they look because they had a GREAT message, musically they are/were on it, very tight and rocked, and Michael Sweet has one of the best voices around.
We caught 10 of their 40 shows last year and will be going to Disney for NOJ. We have been to hundreds of rock concerts and I don't believe we have ever seen a better show then when we saw them last year. Me and my wife are still blown away. Every review they got was excellent.
So Scott, that's my rant for the day. Back to regular scheduled programming. Seriously though, pick up the new live cd on the 18th and keep an eye for the DVD. Your mouth will drop. We knew they would be good, but they frickin' ROCKED!!, and Michael's voice was just sickly insane and they were so tight and on it. Every venue we saw them at was different in style and size so we got a good judge of it. We were front row and center for every show.
You also should check out Michael's Sweet's cd-REAL.
No one rocks for Christ like they do with so much talent. Most are floored by them until I tell them who they are........
Scott, they also put out a 'Best Of' album last year, with two new songs on it. Too bad the live cd won't have the two new songs on them-they kicked in concert. In God We Trust also will not be on the new live cd. Also ashame, they reworked it and it kicked A$$!!

Just a footnote to your Stryper story. When I first heard Honestly on the radio, I remember thinking that it was DDY. (And we all know how great Dennis' voice is).

MANY, MANY, MANY Stryper fans have listed Dennis' voice on their list of favorite all time singers... 8)
Too bad that what they are know for is 'Honestly', because they rock. The image and being known for a ballad song is what killed a lot of the 80's groups. Sort of like Dennis' becoming associated with 'ballads'. Too bad also that they are know for the bumblebee image.
What was so cool was to see Stryper as they are now, without the image, but still SOUNDING so awesome, if not better. EVERYONE was floored on last years tour by third song.
Michael Sweet's voice is truly amazing, and even more amazing that it has held up over all these years, if not gotten even better.
A true shame that his voice doesn't get brought up more often due to what they sing about, how they used to look, and getting lumped in that whole 'hair band' thing-which by the way, they do not look like bumblebees anymore at all!!! :P

Pieces,

Thanks for the Stryper update. I had actually followed the news on the tour from when it was a rumor until its' confirmation. They played in Raleigh (3 Hour drive), but I didn't go. At the time, Michael was saying that it was going to be a farewell tour NOT a reunion tour. Whether it was true or not, it turned me off on going.

I WILL however pickup the Live DVD and most likely the CD as well. Hopefully they will be packaged together.

And EK88, I can definitely hear DDY in Michaels voice.
