apr 6: from atenzia records:

GLEN BURTNIK – WELCOME TO HOLLYWOOD

”My new album ’Welcome To Hollywood ’ is kick ass. The songs are perhaps the strongest I’ve ever written, and the production is about as big a sound as I’ve ever heard come out of two speakers” ( Glen Burtnik )

There are over a dozen of songs on the album, mostly snapshots of life in the cult of American celebrity, and a postcard from Glen’s five years of touring the United States performing rock shows. The album ranges from gigantic arrangements to the barest of productions, and the dynamics of the material is inarguable. From a whisper to a scream ‘Welcome To Hollywood’ is densely packed with music and a number of extras.

The album will be released throughout Europe on June 2 (in the U.K. on June 28), the first edition will contain a bonus DVD and the album has loads of extra tracks and info – all packed in a nice slipcase!

I didn't buy it yet. I'll probably buy it within the next few weeks :)

SMB,

Maybe it's because I've been living in a cave recently, but I just noticed the change in your tagline to include "I enjoy bragging."

Very Nice! :)

NEHrecords says it is available as of June 7. They won't price it until they actually have it, but said it will probably be $13.99. I heard it the other night, it is pretty good. Typical glen and some varying styles.

I found a cool mp3 of edited bits from Burtnik's new album you can hear online:

http://www.glenburtnik.com/wth/teaser2.mp3

It lasts 6 minutes and it sounds extremely promising. Sounds like "Melodic Rock" for sure.

Also, Musicbuymail.com seems to have the CD available.

That's the news as far as I can tell.

Scott, I changed my tagline about a week ago (don't want to offend anyone with my posts)

Glen is co-billing in Atlanta on June 26th with Rik Emmett. That's a concert I would have loved to see. :)

Glen B with Rick Emmit DOES sound interesting. Anyone know if that's a tour? Will there be other dates?

These Welcome To Hollywood tracks sure sound good.

If you want a taste of his new album, you can go to the front page of the site and find the link or follow the link below. There are short clips to most of the songs.

There was a problem with the DVD that they did not catch until after its release. Atenzia called the cds back to correct the problem.

Talked to Jeanette(NEH Records) about an hour ago. Their shipment of 'Welcome To Hollywood' arrived today. She was printing labels to ship the CD's when I called. Anyway, thought I'd let you know.

I got my copy of "Welcome To Hollywood" and it's amazing. Styx just lost another great talent.

It was a good interview. I especially like his comments about Styx and the never ending tour. And his feelings about his work with the band. Definitely should check it out. It says a mouthful.

Interesting.....does anyone else get the feeling that Tommy and JY have become the thing they have accused Dennis of. If this band was so democratic and all for one, why wouldn't KYAG have been released as a single. It was by far the best mainstream current song they had on the album. Doesn't sound like things were all so cool in the land of the brave new world. And this doesn't come from Froy or myslef or any other DDY fans here, it comes from Glen's own interview. I do wish they would have followed up on his comment about how he would never have as much influence as somebody who wasn't even on stage. I am sure he was referring to Dennis, but in what capacity. Does Dennis still have some sort of say in what goes on (highly unlikely)...or just the fact that his songs are still played, maybe it was Glen's idea to move on and not play those...

Personally, I didn't care for any of Glens' songs on the album (or the album for that matter). It is interesting to hear his comments and take, now that he is out of the band. And I think he is right on.
