Tommy, would you like some cheese?

Yes Styx fans, I am back :D

Hey Tommy, would you like some cheese with that whine? LOL

One of my friends forwarded this information that was from Styx World:

"Yet while old peers like Styx and Asia have resigned themselves to playing between pig races and hot-dog-eating contests at county fairs, Rush is still able to pack major sheds."

Aidin Vaziri insults STYX, and STYX fans
Hello Friends,

Over our long and wonderful career we've survived many an irate, uninformed writer's sarcastic words, but the article I read today deserves your attention and perhaps even a response to the writer. It's not even an article about STYX, but about our friends RUSH, whom we respect and admire and who are STYX fans themselves.

See paragraph seven: "Yet while old peers like Styx and Asia have resigned themselves to playing between pig races and hot-dog-eating contests at county fairs, Rush is still able to pack major sheds."There is a lot that's insulting about this paragraph. For example, that playing fairs and festivals in front of thousands of music fans is something to be ashamed of, and that you are somehow tainted if you play there or if you attend as a fan. Just so you know, major acts go to great lengths to be considered for these venues, many of which are not near a major amphitheater. He must not have consulted Pollstar to see just what STYX has been up to over the past few summers or he would have not been so quick to insult us all. It's also clear that he has no idea what goes on at a STYX concert these days.If you want to read the entire article, scroll down. I've pasted it below.

Here is a copy of the e-mail our manager just sent to Aidin. Please feel free to send your own comments to this poor misguided writer who owes it to his readers to be a little better informed.

-----------------------------
"For your information Styx co-headlined major shed and Arena tours with Journey and REO Speedwagon and most recently with Peter Frampton in the past few years. Since 2000 they have continually placed in Pollstar magazines top 50 tours every year. In addition to this their touring includes various fairs and festivals across the nation where they play to tens of thousands of fans at the same venues that some of the biggest artists of today’s music also perform. Styx enjoys playing these events and judging from the attendances our fans enjoy going to them. None of these events are held “between pig races and hotdog eating contests.” Maybe if you were more in touch with these types of events and the clientele that attends them, and probably read your articles, you would not write such uninformed articles to your readers.

Cheers,

Charlie Brusco"

Poor Tommy. Along with Carrot Styx playing the corn fest, onion fest, potato fest or whatever vegetable fest is, they'll be playing at a campground too. I guess it doesn't get any better than that!!

I wonder how many people are going to write this reporter?

Just having fun :D

Well, just let me "rush" right over and send a reply to this Aidin Vaziri guy.

Funny, though, every time I try to type "Styx" my computer rejects it and the following message pops up: "Name not valid. Central support mechanism that kept this group running is now missing."

Havin' fun too.

Funny, I seem to remember this mechanism beginning to malfunction right around Cornerstone and ultimately having to be replaced after many failed attempts to repair it.

Also having fun :D

But even funnier.....the mechanism works absolutely perfectly on its own! Seems it didn't need the other parts to run at the highest level.

Those other parts work fairly well, but constantly seem to be needing replacements to continue to run.

While all of the Mechanisms still appear to be functioning, none of them seem to run as well as they used to when they had low miles on them......

some of them seem to have "emission control" problems too........seems as though one cylinder blows a whole lot of smoke these days !

another one just doesnt seem to produce the raw power it used to, but still works just fine now that it's separated from the others.

a third one runs like the energizer bunny ever since it had it's female fitting replaced with the newest generation model !

a fourth has been changed 3 times and the current version has been re-manufactured after being in several other mechanisms.

Reading your responses to some of the initial posts in any thread is like listening to the politicians answer the questions they're asked. You just seem to get back to the message of your agenda and disregard the post.

Why don't you read the article and comment on that. He has some pretty poor things to say about bands in general. The Styx, Asia and Aerosmith comments are just throw away lines ti bolster his position, but in reality weaken it.

StyxfanNH,

I was unaware that I had an agenda, but for what it's worth, sorry for getting off topic and having a little fun.

In regards to the article, it seems to me the writer is a bit taken in by Rush. I don't give much credence to the Styx remark. I've seen Styx five times in the last few years here in Nebraska and only once did they play at our state (not county) fair. The other four times they played venues that Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, Disturbed, Nelly, Rob Zombie, and Matchbox 20 (among others) have played recently. I guess those artists have resigned themselves to the hot dog/county fair circuit as well. (In essence, you could say I'm in agreement with Charlie Brusco!)

Finally, I do not intend to contact this reporter (Suite was wondering in her initial post, if you recall). However, I might contact our local 4-H about sponsoring a hot dog eating contest and a pig race at our county fair. It would sure save me a lot of driving time the next time Styx comes through!
