Music Time

Ash wrote:I'll still never forget John's performance in the Music Time video.... even though the song wasn't the best, I maintain this was likely Styx' best video because it showcased the sense of humor of all the guys in the band.... and at a time when DDY, JY and TS were all at eachother's throats, it was good to see at least DDY and JY able to have some fun with it.

As a side note, I heard that the cameo by TS in that video was required by their contract and Styx would have been sued without it. Anyone confirm this?

Ash, thought this was just better answered in a new thread.

In an Interview I have with Tommy done in 1992 with Alan Hirt,

Tommy says

"I really didn't like that song. I had already quit the band, and we really couldn't be in a room woth each other at that time. Oddly enough they had booked that video, I mean my solo career was on the same label, that video shoot had been booked at the same time that someone else from the label had set up an interview with Mike Stone in New York. And they were very upset with me that I wasn't in LA doing the video. But the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. So they said you gotta be in the video, you'll really shoot yourself in the foot if you're not."

He goes on to talk about the shoot but that may answer your question

Styx NH,

Could you post that whole interview? It sounds interesting.

Also, I love the Music Time video. It's just so much silliness. Given that they weren't getting along, I think they all did great clowning around.

I like the TMTOMH video as well. When they put their minds to it, they could really display some good humor.

Sadie

the interview is in 6 parts and is done in real player format.

I would if I could, but I am not a great typist and it took 15 minutes for me to do what I did, however, you can listen to the interview at

and this is an article written off of this interview.

Oh, jeeze, MusicTime 666! I am getting a headache with that avatar! Maybe a still of the drumming kid, huh? No offense intended but it is almost more than I can take!

The Music Time video is a fun one to see. Very much in the spirit of the humorous videos done at that time by other artists. Dennis is clown central in that one for sure.

What's wrong with Prince?? He draws a crowd. DDY draws a crowd for people who are already in line for a roast beef sandwich.

Arby's, that's the name of the place.

No, you've got it all wrong insipid one. I remember a couple of guys last year on here and reading their comments about roast beef and Arby's and thought it was really funny. Maybe that's what inspired me to join the board.

Is Arby's any good anyways?
