Having just received my copy of the new Neal Morse dvd, in the last week, I've been listening to a lot of Neal/Spock's stuff.

A return to form for Mel after the Kasey Chambers 'incident' last week :D .
How is the DVD mate?

My AOTW is the first G3 CD...not for the music (which is great), but because I got it signed by Steve Vai yesterday. All gloats/announcements over

It's pretty good. It seems to take a couple of songs for the band to find the groove, but once they do they sound great. Neal's singing and of couse Portnoy's playing are in fine form. The highlight, for me, was the last encore 'Stranger In Your Soul'...sounded great. The third encore song clocks in at almost 30 minutes...gotta love prog.

AOW was almost the new Scorpions disc.....but in the last 48 hours Mattias Eklundh blew them out of the water with Freak Guitar-The Road Less Travelled. Some god damn amazing shit i tell ya. Guitar being played with chopsticks, the most fucked up version of Smoke on the Water (genius), the theme to Fletch and so much more.

Not really one particular AOTW for me. I have been playing a lot of Black Sabbath, Rainbow and Dio, to warm up for the Dio concert, can't wait for that after having seen the setlist of his gig in Finland... :D

AOTW is Hybrid Ice "No Rules." I'm still baffled how a great keyboard-driven AOR album hasn't seen the light of day in reissue land. The vocal harmonies are to die for!

Been listening to Pyramaze - Melancholy Beast. It's pretty good. Lance King from Balance of Power did the vocals, but it's very different musically to them. I like it. :D

My AOTW is Yes - 'Going for the one'. I wish I could have heard this while I was still using drugs.....

As we are all early with our albums of the week: mine is Jefferson Starship - Freedom At Point Zero. I did some adjustments to the recordplayer and now I am able to enjoy the guitarsolo on Awakening in all its glory.

This song would also sound better when under the influence; it's a pity though the song lasts only seven minutes instead of twenty...

I see the theme for the week is hallucinogens... In that case... I just bought the 5.1 Dolby Digital version of Dark Side Of The Moon. I bet that would be great, now I'm off to find my pills!!!

I like the Slide It In album too, isn´t there a U.S. remix of that LP where John Sykes plays the guitars?

Yep. It's available in two ways. I have the vynil version with Galley/Moody and the CD with Sykes.

Shark Frenzy - Richie Sambora/Bruce Foster

Still undecided about this one, perhaps I was expecting some Bon Jovi.

This week's AOTW for me is Styx "Paradise Theater." The weird thing is that I never liked this group at any given point when I was younger. And then after a test spin to make sure a christmas gift worked properly, it was like an 180 degree turnaround. I don't know why I've changed my mind now, but Styx isn't half bad at all.

Into Eternity-Buried in Oblivion

This album has been constantly in my car stereo and in my head this week. A strange combination of Death and Melodic metal. Not like bands like Soilwork or Killswitch Engage which are Death verses and Melodic chorus but these guys are all over the place. Nearly everyone in the band sings clean or death or both (some wicked harmonies)...and the musicianship is top notch.

Definately in my top 5 cds released this year.
