HEAVY METAL..... BABE

Postby yogi » Sat Nov 06, 2004 6:00 am

Ok so now since I have Too Much Time On My Hands I was wondering who out there would buy a Styx CD where the music is sung by a different band member. Dennis could sing Great White Hope, Miss America, Midnight Ride, Heavy Metal Poisoning, Renegade, She Cares, and Killing The Thing That You Love. JY would get First Time, Crystal Ball, Mr. Roboto, Show Me The Way, Queen Of Spades, Just Fell In, Great Expectations, and of course Dont Let It End(EVER).We would give Tommy Babe, Music Time, Suite Madame Blue, While Theres Still Time, Castle Walls, These Are The Times, and Nothing Ever Goes As Planned. Finally, Glen would get his one song and that would be Double Life.

So Whos Buying?????? I almost forgot the bonus song on the Japanese CD would be all new full length xylophone, ukulele version of Blue Collar Man.

So now who's In??????????????????????????????????

Well, Yogi, one could always buy such a collection and use the cut of JY singing "First Time" to frighten the neighbors.

Yogi,

Would you put the CD in the Comedy or the music section at Best Buy ?

I'd rather buy a CD of Leonard Nimoy Singing Proud mary and William Shatner "singing" Lucy In The Sky with Diamonds ! ( actually, I DO own that.....it's a hoot ! )

If what you are suggesting ever realy happened, I wouldn't buy it unless I heard some of it and liked it, which I am very Skeptical about.

Is anyone qualified to sing Dennis' songs?

S.F.N.H. , Touche' :!: :!: :!:

I bet the honest answer here for many to that question would be...... "no!"

I'm not sure I'd go that far, but still say JY and Gowan aren't
their voices are too ( extremely ) different, and don't fit his music well.

As to who would be qualified, I dnt have any names for you off the top of my had, but I'll ponder that a little this weekend, and answer on Monday.

At first, I didn't mind JY singing Lorelei, but these days, I'm really disliking his "treatment" of this particular song. I can't really say I would buy this cd, but it's surely an interesting concept. It's sort of like a tribute cd to themselves, like the self-organized KISS tribute!

Heavy Metal Poisoning would have to be done by Larry, who also would get Just Get Through This Night (which his voice reminds me of sometimes) and Witch Wolf he would do awesome on. Glenn would need Golden Lark, MIss America. Dennis and Tommy could change around just about what ever and do a good job covering each other, along as it was a true remake, and they could add their own touches to the songs as to how they would have done it. JY should sing Edge of Century or More Love for the Money.
I always would have loved to have heard a suped up Hevay Metal Poisoning song, without having to be in the "Dr. Rightoues" mood.
Any way............

Back to the Dennis question.........I'd love to hear Crosby Stills & Nash take a crack at a Dennis song. I think that might be cool.

Still pondering.

CS&N would be a great candidate for covers. On a side note, I'd like to hear Styx do "Carry On" by CSN&Y. One of my personal favorites by that band.

And no, I'm pretty sure nobody is qualified to sing Dennis' songs, other than the man himself.

That being said, just for fun, how about Todd singing lead on a majestic rendition of " State Street Sadie"
