It can be downloaded Dec 14. Tommy also stated on the Styxworld site that VH1 classic will be playing the video.

If this airs during the Classic/Current segment, which it likely will, I wonder which Classic Styx video they will pair it with. I will sure be looking for it.

Does anyone have any data regarding the "reach" or # of subscriber to cable/satellite who receive VH-1 Classic ?

I'd be very curious to know if anyone is watching.

I found the item below regarding the numbers of those who actually subscribe to the package that includes VH1C. As to how many of those watch daily is unknown, but that is a large number of households with access to it.

In 40 million homes by year’s end, VH1 Classic is a 24-hour network featuring “absolutely none of today’s hottest music” but classic rock, soul and pop artists from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. The network will for the first time this year partner with selected advertisers on sponsorships.

On average, Yogi, they get to see the Blue Collar Man video, cut from the CITA concert, about once a month.

The most played Styx videos, believe it or not, are the VH1 Unplugged set done in 1996 -- Babe, Lady and Come Sail Away. Not very Tommy/JY-centric for sure.

Tommy posted this today on the styxworld site

We are here to play Q104's Christmas party tonight. We'll also be stopping by their studios to perform acoustically on our good friend Zach Martin's show and to pay a visit to VH1 Classic to deliver our new video for "I Am The Walrus." Lots of exciting things going on in STYXworld and 2005 is looking like another fine year in our ongoing story, including our first European tour since October of 2000.

So, if 1 percent of the subscribers who have VH-1 Classic actually watch it more than just in passing, the potential reach is 400,000 people.....if 10 percent of those actually see the video, thats 40,000, and if 10 percent of those people are inspired to go out and download the song............

A lot of assumptions there, I know.

I got VH1 classic for about two months while I was staying with some friends in between my families move to Bay City. To me it was like watching MTV when MTV first came out. Nothing but videos and literally NO commercials. I saw quite a few Styx videos in those two months, along with many many videos& old concet footage I had NEVER seen before.

Now that our move is complete, and we are living in our new home, we cant afford VH1 Classic because it is on Tier 3 ( most expensive ) of Dish Network, its the same way on Direct TV. When a little more cash flows in that will be one change I will try to make. I was ALWAYS clicking over to VH1 Classic to see what was playing.

When we had cable, VH1 Classic was a major part of my channel surfing addiction. However, we no longer have it, and truthfully, I don't miss it at all.

I have had the channel almost two years now and it has truly gone downhill in quality in the last 6 months or so. It has gotten very repetitive and some of the rare videos they were showing are simply never played anymore.

I had two requests answered nearly a year ago and they played "Boomchild" and "This is the Time." Both of those went into rotation briefly, but now have disappeared completely. Only "Desert Moon" gets played upon occasion.

The two Tommy videos (Girls With Guns and Lonely School) and the one JY (Wild Dogs in the Night) that they played were also in regular rotation at one time. I have not seen those in ages. Also apparently dropped.

The channel has also seemly dropped "Show me the Way" ( a really nice video) and the hilarious "Music Time."

I belong to a private VH1 Classic message board and everyone is very upset with how the channel has changed, especially the All Request Hour.

I don't surf over and watch nearly as much as I used to.

Just some thoughts.

Isn't this kind of the M.O. of MTV, MTV2, VH1 and company? I don't think they keep anyone happy for long with their programming. Seems like every time they get a positive response about a program, it disappears or changes format. I'm much more impressed with the FUSE network these days, although I haven't checked it out for awhile (maybe they've turned to the dark side, as well).

That would be great Ash - Go For It :)

On this site you'll find a few "rare" videos. If the main page comes up go to "extras".

Did everyone see or do you all have the "Best Thing" video from 1972? I have it on DVD, it's pretty grainy but it's still nice to have.
