When you think of rock & roll, Perry is the first vocalist to come to mind? Perry has/had a great voice, but he is so not the "voice of rock".

The same way Jon and Neal did NOT need Perry's control?

I am not attempting to 'control' anything. And you know it.

Your idol is long gone, and has no plans to return. You are the one who chooses to wear the blinders.

Perry has been legally detached from Journey since 1998.

Albeit, I do think Perry is a phenomenal vocalist.

I have read this post with interest and some people are saying they should of given Perry as long as it takes, well if they had Neal would still be at home twiddling his thumbs as how many solo shows has Perry done to show the world he loves touring since Augeri joined ?

If Perry had joined he would of probably tried to fire the rythem section again and replace them with session guys who have no love for the band........Schon & Cain done the right thing "they got Neal his band back"

Dont get me wrong Perry is an awesome singer......well he was before FTLOSM where he sounded strained.

Augeri has been a great addition. Maybe Perry and Dennis DeYoung should form a band at least they would only tour every 6 years but ide love to see who would become chairman of the board in that partnership. Dennis would arrive for work to find Perry had fired his first violinist and horn section. Then we would have the lawsuits. Then the Spielberg movie adapted from the Jackie Collins book.

I was referring to the fact that you seem to be here 24/7, so I assumed you might want to go do a little housecleaning and make it a productive day. Since all you do here is chase posters around and call them names and attempt to divert threads when you're not singing the praises of somebody who doesn't sing anymore.

PAUL RODGERS.......Now there is The Voice Of Rock!!!! :D

As for the 'dick' thing, it was in an interview with Perry. HE said HE called Mark and Brian the D word, not anybody else. So I stand by my original post.

For the record, you did call Noble Cause what he said you called him.

Oh, so two wrongs make a right?
Your hypocrisy truly knows no bounds, does it?

Either you are against making insults or you're not-which is it?

If you are going to make it your business to criticize other people for making insults, in effect holding yourself up as some specimen of consumate moral behavior, then be prepared to actually act like one.
ALL THE TIME.

Thank goodness though, not all of us are intimidated by your display of arrogance & bullying here, & we will continue to speak our OWN minds & opinions.

Furthermore it appears by the statement you made above, that you feel your "above the rest of us, so you give yourself certain rights to behave however you want towards others that you disagree with here.

First off, I edited the above line out of my post almost immediately upon submitting it and reviewing it(and noticing it's own disingenuousness). .

Frankly, I don't even know how you responded to it so quickly.
Considering that the quote in question was promptly edited out by myself, this conversation is moot.
Nonetheless i will try to respond to you anyways.

The only time I have ever engaged in such behavior is when you or your kind purposely interjects irrelevant subject matter into MY thread for the purpose of subverting it.

I don't think I ever seen you girlies abstain from trying to hijack someone's non-Perry related thread and making it all about Steve Perry. It's all you ever do.

Hey NC,

Did you notice in my post that I got my point across WITHOUT resorting to calling you ANY names? Yet, that is the FIRST thing you did, when you did not agree with what I had to say. Thank you for proving my point! :)

As far as you saying you edited the above line out, well I guess you weren't fast enough, because it is in YOUR post. And Yes, I have seen you try to control other people response's on this board. Others have called you on it too.

Call me all the names you want. I'm not bothered by it at all!

I will still continue to speak my OWN mind!

I belive Perry is not the voice of Rock. Sure everybody has an opinion but this is way too far. There are many legendary singers out there who can rock harder and meaner than Perry. I dont want to mention names because there are so many. Voice of AOR? Maybe... But still many people out there who are still active or just dissapeared from the scene to offer solid competition to him.

My comment-"Perry is the Voice of Rock" is talking about his singing skills, mostly. Perry WAS the best vocalist, in my mind, that Rock music has ever had. Sure ther are others out that that defined rock more, Plant comes to mind. There are others that had more hits. But Perry had all of them and I think Perry is the voice of Rock.
But at the same time, if you are the heavy weight boxing champ of the world, and you never step into the ring to defend your title, do you stay the champ? No! Had that is how it is with Perry. He WAS the voice of Rock. He maybe the all time champ (for now), but someone else needs to be in the spotlight. Who?-ERIC

Oh well in that case I would say Freddie Mercury!

Queen dominatated the world (not so much the USA to be fair) from 1975 right through to Freddie's sad death in 1991. Freddie not only had the voice, but was a first-class showman as well which was witnessed by the entire world at Live Aid when Queen smoked the entire line up both in the UK and US!!

To top all that, Queen are the 2nd highest grossing band to come out of the UK next to The Beatles, with respect to the other band members, I believe was mostly down to Freddie's character on the live stage and unique voice.

We coud debate "the voice of rock" all week long and everyone will have different opinions, but if you ask the average Joe on the street here in the UK nobody would know who Journey is, never mind Steve Perry!! However, the likes of Plant, Jagger, Mercury, Coverdale, Rodgers...etc are household names! - Go figure!!!!

I cannot believe anyone would even think of Perry when talking about the "voice of rock". Maybe we have different definitions of rock? Perry may be the voice of the power ballad, but not what I call rock. Robert Plant, Paul Rodgers, Mick Jagger, even Bono in the current scene, but Perry?

perryfaithful, i agree Steve P is the voice of rock, especially Journey's. besides i figured Neal, Jonathan, Steve Smith and Ross detached themselves from Perry, since steve p couldn't tour because he needed surgery on his hip, and the the rest of the group couldn't wait until Steve P. could tour again.

Maci,

You need to be accurate. It wasn't a case of the band not wanting to wait for him, it was a case of the band not wanting to wait another 12 years for him to make a decision and be ready to tour. They have clearly stated all they asked for was a decision...and Perry said AHEM "This wasn't a gaaaroup decision". He expected men at or near 50 to wait another decade to do something. Come on...they have families to feed too...he couldn't make a decision and has been unwilling to tour with Journey for nearly 20 years.....
No sense spinnin this...we know the truth
