Ive been playing this gem non-stop since late last June. I have now given it hundreds & hundreds of spins and I am ready to say, without a doubt, this is the BEST album/CD to come out in the last 25 years.

Superboy, Welcome To Hollywood, Another, Bam, Kiss Your Ass Goodbye, All Thats Yet To Come & The Muse are all CLASSICS!! Plus, the rest of the CD is REALLY REALLY good. The video disc that comes with it is excellent.

If you have yet to purchase this CD, do yourself a MAJOR SOLID and buy it. Its a MUST PURCHASE!!!

And if you play the CD in your computer, you get the WTH extended version, with all of Glen's fans (me being the first ) saying "Welcome to Hollywood." It is absolutely, a wonderful CD. BAM! is about the coolest song ever. SUPERBOY would have been a huge hit, if anyone knew who Glen Burtnik was. :-\

I agree with you 100% about Bam and Superboy. Do you think those songs could of been aimed at Tommy? When he left Styx back in 1985 many people(MTV included) were predicting he was going to be the next ' Superboy'.

What do you think of Another? I think it has to be one of the best ballads I have ever heard.

No comission. I'm just stunned how good this CD is. Its almost like I didnt even know an entire CD could be this good. If this would of come out back in ' the day ' it would of sold 20 million copies. Still with that said its sooo damn fresh today. Songs like Superboy, Bam & Another rarely come along, let alone on the same CD.

You just have to hear it to know what I mean.

I agree. It is way better than the past 2 or 3 Styx studio albums. It's a shame Styx lost this talent.

I highly doubt Superboy or BAM! were written for any one person in particular. In fact, I *think* "Superboy" was originally called "Poster Boy," but I could be wrong about that. Glen often writes in generic form, so bits and pieces of his music can fit a multitude of people. Celebrities are all prone to the evils of fading out of the public eye, and in Hollywood, EVERYONE is replacable. hell, in LIFE, everyone's replacable. The whole theme of the album centers around that.

I LOVE "Another." It reminds me of a souped up "Someday," which I also LOVE. "Another" has all the elements of a perfect rock "ballad." Of course, I think Glen's the freakin' bomb, so I'm biased.

Not sure which version of Kiss Your Ass Goodbye is best. I think Styx's is longer

Its a draw. I like how Bourgious Pig leads into Styx's version, but I also REALLY like how Bam leads into Glens version. Glens version is rougher.

Superboy is just about the busiest song I have ever heard.

Finally, saying this CD is way better than the last 3 Styx albums is a statement does NOT do Welcome To Hollywood justice. In my opinion the only albums Styx have done that even comes close to this masterpiece are: Pieces Of Eight, The Grand Illusion and Equinox.

Yogi, I think Glen does need to put you on the payroll. I like the album, but it TO ME, is not the bomb. It's a very decent album though.

Oh my god, NO! It's nothing like Edge of the Century. Or Heroes and Zeros. Or Palookaville. Or Retrospectacle. Just go get the damn thing, and you'll figure out what some of us already know!

Its very hard to describe Welcome To Hollywood other than that it is TRULY AMAZING!! In my opinion there are 5 songs that should be BIG hits. 3 Eaisly could be #1's in Superboy, Another & Bam. The best way I can describe this CD is....

JY and Dennis chose Glen to replace Tommy back in the early 90's. They must of felt in some way he fit the Styx mold.

In 1998 Tommy Shaw had a solo CD Seven Deadly Zens. I thought this CD was a masterpiece. By far the best solo CD of any member of Styx. Seven Deadly Zens could hold its own up against almost all Styx albums.

Flash forward to Welcome To Hollywood. This is Seven Deadly Zens X 5. Tommy's first 4 songs on Zens are incredible, Glens first 6 on Hollywood are even better.

As GREAT as I felt Zens was Hollywood is far better. From the writing to the singing to the overall production I dont think I own a CD as good as Welcome To Hollywood. Its a must have!!
