This is just something that strikes me as hilarious, but has anyone else come across the new compliations from Air Supply and Chicago titled "Love Songs"? I guess this isn't totally OT, since Dennis did a tour with the former, but really.. did Air Supply ever do a song that wasn't, and has Chicago done one since 1975?

Oh, come on, I'm sure Air Supply shredded many a guitar string on Even The Nights Are Better :D

And Chicago? An order of hotcakes with a side of Hard Habit To Break and you're good to go!

Was Leo Sayer ( When I Knead You - The Bread Song) in Air Supply??? That is a question that has been asked thousands of times!! Rolling Stone magazine doesnt even know.

When Air Supply first started they were heavy metal giants!! Bad Company,Blue Oyster Cult, AC/DC & Judas Priest all opened for them back in the late 70's. Many Many joints were rolled with Air Supply blarrrrrring in the background. Thousands of parents screameeed at their kids to turn that noise dooowwwn !!!! They shaped a generation!!!!

It was that damn Derek Sutton who suggested that they slow it down a notch. He then tried to market them like Burger King. He wanted a slow burn.....

Then when Leo, or the dark haired Supplier landed in the mosh pit at the Minnesota State Fair Derek's dream ended. Why didnt they catch Leo????

It was now time to grow up!!!!

Isn't it ironic that in some threads we seem to be of the mind that Dennis' show is missing the guitars of Styx and in other threads that the Styx show is missing the vocals of Dennis? Sigh.

I think it depends on what you're looking for. I, myself have always been a person drawn to lyrics. Love instrumental music quite a bit, but if there is going to be singing I gravitate my ears to the voice(s) doing the singing. So for me, the harder to replace is the voice. I don't have any idea honestly how hard it would be to replace a guitarist.

For most bands the "voice" is the most recognizable part of a band. So I would think it's harder to replace that signature of a band.

However when you have 3 lead singers, it makes it a bit easier to replace one of them.

Regardless who gets replcaced, it never is the same as the incarnation before it.

I really miss songwriting myself. To this day I miss the songwriting contributions of Steve Clark to Def Leppard. The lead singer is the same and the guitar playing sure sounds similar, but the songs miss what Steve brought to the band. Same with the Gin Blossoms when Doug Hopkins passed. Congratulations I'm Sorry is still a terrific album, and the other band members certainly wrote some songs that I enjoy, but again, something's missing.
