Hey, like I've been saying LATELY, I don't care where any band plays as long as I can see them play. Even if it is at a day care - LOL

Of course, but if it were Styx at this "venue" you have posted it and Froy would have led the pack in attacking Styx for playing it. THAT is how things go here.

Oh, by the way, if anyone wants to get nasty with this one, I'll have a field day posting articles with a couple of venues that Carrot Styx has played this past couple of years.

Sorry, don't try to pass responsibility for YOUR actions. If you post it, it's YOUR choice not because somebody else met your definition of 'nasty'.

What a wonderful song! I like it any time of year, but particularly at Christmastime/New Year's. It is among my favorites.

The lyrics are brilliant! I love the ending too. I gotta agree with you, Bugs. One of the best songs from that era.

It was always *other* fans who made a point to go out of their way to slam the types of venues they were playing and using that information to provide "proof" that Styx was washed up. Now, I'd be lying if I didn't say I don't find it just slightly comical that Dennis is playing these same sorts of venues now - and it's OK. lol

Exactly. I find it VERY hypocritical that they now want the rhetoric to calm down when it is their guy singing with the toads. Suite's threat of going into froyspeak, or I spose 'froycroak' for this thread, is a bit lame. That stuff has gone on for a long time, so what difference does it make? Go ahead, tear your webbed feet while you hop about finding a few old venues that have already been gobbled up like flies in a swamp.

I think that it's rather silly to say "they" are being hypocritical. Reading this thread, on this board, "they" have laughed about the choice of venue as well. Suite had often brought positive articles and info regarding Styx as it now exists to this forum.

It's pointless to keep rehashing the arguments. Dennis on his own, will never have the same name recognition as Styx. I think that he plays the same types of venues that Styx does is neither affirmation or condemnation of either party. I personally find it a comical name for a festival, just as I did the corn fest Styx played, or the Buffalo Chip Campground they played, or the Playland Dennis played a few years ago.

Yes, there was some serious bashing going on in both "camps" back in the day. I took Suite's comments to mean that she prefer we not go there now. Yes, she might have worded it better, however, I think she has honestly tried to be fair where the lineup is concerned. And I think blasting her for her comments was a bit harsh. Just my opinion, not worth much, I'm sure.

Peace

LOL...I guess if that's blasting, then it's no wonder you feel there was serious bashing going on on both sides back in the day. Or you must have been reading different boards that I was. lol

On a different note, if not mistaken, I could have sworn that Styx played the Toad Suck last year too. I could be wrong, but the name rings a bell.

Suite, sorry if you feel blasted by anything I said. I think (at least speaking for myself) that we're only trying to point out the irony (and hypocrisy - not necessarily on your part) of the situation. Altho, when you threatened us with the Styx venues, it was kind of...uh, interesting. lol

Now that was comical. We both know there were some really nasty things said back in 1999 and 2000. And yes, Monker's words, on this board, were not necessary and a form of blasting.

I don't necessarily view it as hypocritical per se, but only because of the name recognition issue. I do however, think that if you/they/anyone can get a gig they want to play, by all means, I think they should go for it. Life is just too short not to.

Oh and I'm a fan of Fogelberg too. Seriously hope he is soing well with his illness.

just call me Nostradamus 8) I knew this thread would end up being an entertaining one !

Just like all of us, Carrot Styx, Dennis, and all of those employed by the 2 camps are just trying to make a decent living........ ( BEFORE THEY CROAK !!!!! sorry, I couldn't resist ! )

Speaking of Dan Fogelberg, has anyone heard anything recent about how he is doing with his battle with Prostate cancer ? I'm fearing that no news is not good news.

those of you who are DF Fans, if you havent purchased his 2003 release Full Circle, do it....IMO, his best work in at least 15 years ![/b]

Thanks Sadie. Yes, even though I'm totally Pro-Dennis, I've been trying to post postive articles on this site too.

Thanks Sadie!! I never ever post exactly how I want to say things - LOL Most of you should know that by now

Zan, I've been on all the "other" boards for a few years now as a lurker. You probably figured out who I am on the StyxBoard - LOL

Zan says:

On a different note, if not mistaken, I could have sworn that Styx played the Toad Suck last year too. I could be wrong, but the name rings a bell.

I thought they played there too. I'm thinking that a lot of Styx fans went to see Night Ranger when they were there and they posted about it.

No, it's not you Zan. There are 2 people on here that I don't really care for their posts. One of them I know personally and came on as a different name and posts to bash me once in a blue moon.

I was trying to be a little funny with the "threat" and having a field day with the different venues.

I am not one to allow somebody to tell me that my words may cause such and such an action by someone else. THAT is playing games. I don't see how it is a joke, at all. I don't see any reason why I should have considered it a joke either.

I think she has honestly tried to be fair where the lineup is concerned. And I think blasting her for her comments was a bit harsh.

I did not 'blast' her. The point is: her post implied that she knew about this 'news' and didn't post it...Had it been Styx, I have no doubt she would have posted it, and the froy would have went on another rampage. That is how things go. If you don't see that cycle, then exactly what forum are you reading?

You are right, in the past I have turned the tables on the one-sided assault here. I've done it more then once. So what? So, there are two or three people who post here who favor what Styx does over Dennis...and everybody else seems to favor Dennis. Once in a while the Dennis fans use a veil of humor to poke 'fun' at Styx. I don't mind removing that veil.

I don't recall suggesting you should take it as a joke. I'm not game playing with you at all. If you think I am, well my apologies for that misconception on your part.

Nope, can't say that I see the cycle. I just posted a nice article from JY. Guess what, Froy jumped on it. Froy, will jump on whatever he pleases, regardless of who posts it. To say that she buried this, but would not have buried something about Styx is pure conjecture on your part. As for who would have responded, well it's a discussion board.

Ooohhhh. A veil remover. Well, if it makes you feel better. And yes, you bashed her by implying/stating that she would aid and abet Froy. But, by all means, keep lifting that veil. Humor is used by everyone here, and quite often at the expende of band members. What a revelation. Thanks.

Sheesh Monker, you really need to lighten up. These boards are suppose to be fun. I think there's a lot more than 2 or 3 people on this board that favor what Styx does over Dennis!!!! That's great and I hope they can share some new news too.

If you don't like what's on here why do you even come to this board? You never seem happy here or bring anything new to this board. If you have any articles, interviews or any Styx news, please share it.

Thanks again Sadie for sticking up for me (again and again-LOL) :)

I posted this cuz i couldn't do anything but laugh at the name of the event. Styx got beat up all summer for playing at the corn festival last year.

Just expected that we would get a few chuckles from both sides.

We need to lighten up.

If and I mean If Suite knew about the name of the venue and chose not to post it, so what. There are lots of things i read about this band and Dennis that I don't post.

I was refering to what you brought up where I supposedly 'bashed' Dennis. You guys went round and round poking fun at Styx. But, when *I* did it to Dennis, in a DIRECT RESPONSE to the Styx jokes - it's considered a 'bash'. Well, guess what, look in the mirror cuz it was EXACTLY what you guys were doing. Funny how perspective changed things from 'a joke' to 'a bash'.

And, I did not imply or state that Suite and Froy are in some weird union. If they wish to exchange vows of partnership, it's irrelevant to me and I wasn't even considering the thought. I am just stating exactly what happens from your side of the fence. That is not a 'bash', it's stating how things are, and have been for a very long time.

And just where did I say in my post you bashed Dennis? I said you bashed Suite. Hardly the same thing. However, double standards run rampant in each direction. I've seen plenty of jokes made at Dennis' expense, just as I have at the current lineup. I agree we have bashed the band for it's choice of venues, just as I recall recoiling at the name of this venue for Dennis. It happens. It happens over Dennis' hair, JY's comments, Dennis Broadway leanings, the underwear on the guitars., so please, spare me that we are the hypocrites here. Seems to me, everyone ought to look in a mirror.

And, I did not imply or state that Suite and Froy are in some weird union. If they wish to exchange vows of partnership, it's irrelevant to me and I wasn't even considering the thought. No you said that if it were an articcle about Styx she wouldn't have hesitated and Froy would have jumped on it. Guess what, Froy jumps on nearly everything. And Suite has posted several nice things about the band as well. For you to sugges that she withheld this simply because it of some double standard, well that's conjecture, like I said before.

Just as much of a double standard as with the bands fans. We ALL, make fun of the band and Dennis and we ALL get upset or offended by it from time to time. I've seen people try to be tolerant and respectful, and I've seen people sling mud, myself included in both scenarios. But to say that it leans more in one direction, well, I'd say it's a pretty even split.
