1 More Dennis Review

Postby froy » Mon Mar 28, 2005 1:33 pm

First off let me give you all the setlist right from the setlist sheet that we got from the stage

Grand Illusion
Lady
Best Thing
Desert Moon
Lorelie
Pieces of 8
Show Me The Way
Castle Walls
Mr Roboto
Dont' Let It End
Rockin The Paradise
Queen of Spades
Light Up
UnFinished Song
Suite Madame Blue
Borrowed Time
Babe
Best of Times
Come sail Away
Whole Lotta Shakin Going On
Great Balls of Fire

Now Just look at that setlist can you believe a show like this
Its a dream come true and let me tell ya Dennis Freakin Rocked The House Down ,
The Show Tune Guy has left the building and the Dennis DeYoung Rock show was on Fire all night long

Grand Illusion /was killer
Lady /the crowd went nuts
Best Thing/ freakin awesome Hank sang JY's part and sounded perfect ,
Castle Walls/ was right there moving stunning chilling pick one
Borrowed Time /YES NO I can't say enough how lifting this was to me
Pieces of 8 /I cannot believe it A Masterpiece
Light Up /smoked
Unfinished Song/ WOW
Queen of Spades/ what a great song
Madame Blue /oh my lord perfect .
Come Sail Away / the crowd was totally out of control

In fact the crowd was the best Dennis crowd I have ever seen
Very little talking between songs he just fired them off
I loved the Story about how Tommy was dating Linda Blair and she was on the plane with the band also how Dennis and Chuck shared a room in the early day's and how Chuck wanted to sleep with the lights on because of the Exorsist movie they just saw. You can tell Dennis loves talking about the old days . Its a real damm shame we have 2 selfish jerks running around using the Styx name when the leader of the band is putting on the Styx show Styx fans really want to see.

At this point I say good riddence to Tom and Jim the cover cd will be the end of your failing dream of a STYX band without the leader Dennis Deyoung just keep on talking to yourselves nobody is listening
If I need a Styx buzz I will just go see Dennis DeYoung 's Styx and not
a chance in hell will I ever set foot in a concert hall where Larry GetGowan is destroying Dennis Deyoung's songs.
No Freakin Way

I hope all REAL Styx fans can get a chance at the Lost Treasures show
Believe me its the STYX show you have waited 6 years to see.

When you go to s STYX concert you get a rock show every time not once every six years like the DDY shows. I think the bass player in DDY's band works at Walmart in Orland Park, IL.

You mean 1 more review and 1 more chance to slam Styx.
Glad that it was a great show and I wish i could see it too,but somehow i doubt that DDY will ever go north across the border. That is where Styx is coming in rather handy. They do not seem to have problem showing up around here.
It is an impressive setlist you have there, with the exception of the last 2 trax.Reminds me of Uriah Heep in the old days.
Jesus loves you ,but everybody else thinks you're a knob.

Yea you get the same rock show for 6 years in a row
Now that Dennis is rockin you still bitch about it

Why is that where you work ?
Did you see him there ?
Fact is Hank has worked for JY's band and he also works in the higher scale wedding market in Chicago .
Great Bass guy better than Dickie Phillips anyday of the week

Yes that's exactly right
I saw Styx on Saturday night its a shame the other to goofs have sticks up there asses it would have been nice if they were there also
One day mark my words they will look over at Gowan and say what the hell are we doing .

Cover bands come over across the border all the time
I suggest you get off your duff and go see Dennis and this show

They do not seem to have problem showing up around here.

You get a room full of 40 dollar bills they will never stop comming

The great part about the last 2 songs is that the crowd was going so insane that Dennis was brought back out by the crazy fans
He said lets do 1 more and everyone went wild.
Those 2 were not on the setlist ,

I thought about going. But the price was a little steep. I saw Rhythm Method in Madison instead. They are the band that also goes out as Light Up doing all STYX covers. Unfortunately they didn't do any STYX covers while we were there.

All I can say is "Never say Never"

Kansas666, Dennis concert was worth the price!!!!! I thought Rhythm Method had a few Styx songs tossed in their set? I'll be seeing Light Up a few times this summer. They're a GREAT band!! I have their concert on footage, I'm just hoping to add the interview soon. Then I can share it with board members on here.

GREAT review Froy :) I agree with the reviews of the songs!!! Even after the 2nd encore the crowd wanted more and more!!!

I just love how positive your postings are when you come on here :)

Are you planning to see Styx at the Rosemont in May for their free radio show? Do you have your tickets?

You know, froy, I was truly enjoying your post, up until the "It's a real damm shame . . . " line and everything thereafter. Now, I'm sorry I read it. Would it have been so hard just to review the show?

I don't believe I've ever seen a review of a Styx 5.1/5.2 show which included an automatic bashing of DeYoung.

You wanna know who keeps the grudge going? You wanna know where the problem lies here?

Gimme an "F"...

AGAIN, The setlist sounds GREAT but why wont he add Born For Adventure, plus songs such as Roseland, Why Me, & Love at First Sight????

Born For Adventure is probably the hardest rocking progressive lyrically perfect song the band EVER did. Its a Classic that they once used to open their show, and hasnt been played live for 25 plus years. As for Roseland, Dennis himself said he loved that song and that ( TOM & JIM ) should of released it as a single. Finally, have Why Me & Love At First Sight EVER been played live. Both of these songs charted in the top 30. Love At First Sight could easily replace Dont Let It End. People would be saying 'damn I didnt know he sang that'.

As good as this show sounded, I bet most fans could live without Dennis two COVER closers,Dont Let It End, and Light Up. Personally, I'd prefer Black Wall to Desert Moon on his setlist.

I'd drive my damn Yugo almost anywhere, go to the show, sell my car and walk home if Dennis would add Born for Adventure plus some of his other GREATS to his 'Lost Treasures' package.

I just hope( Denny) stays visable awhile for his fans, and that ( DENNY) also remembers the south, as well as Canada and other remote??? places are fans of his too. Denny, Hankels Horton hears a Whoo, and Sunset Maria also must remember that Yugos are pieces of shi t even if they do get GREAT gas mileage.

Would you come up to Milwaukee if he was going to play "Born for Adventure"? I don't think he'll ever perform that one live, but then again, you never know.

There will be a few more tour dates coming up on his website.

Hell yes I would. I'm a St. Paul boy so I remember many times driving across the border because your drinking age was lower.

It would be GREAT if Dennis was playing on Friday and Hank had a wedding on Saturday. I could take em both in, then start my Sunday trek home!!!

Are there any good ( honest) mechanics that have Yugo parts in Milwaukee??? Dennis's drummer you say????????????
