I'm not sure anyone has a copy (except maybe Glen) of the original lyrics, but Glen has said dozens of times that the vampire and Quasi Modo references were there from the beginning.

I'll TAKE it! :-D

How about Christopher Walken for Adam? Since I have NO idea Adam looks like, I'm going purely on dry, sarcastic humor. LOL

Bugsy: Well, that's because those particular songs ARE his. And they WERE produced by him. He doesn't claim it for every Styx song. Only his songs

Adam: Excuse me, but you're wrong here. Ask Froy or any other DeYoungian. Both Dennis AND his followers maintain that HE was the Producer, even before he was credited as such.

I was talking about in the context where he is discussing what songs he is currently performing. Granted, some of the songs are co-writes, but the majority of what he performs are, indeed, his songs.

Will anyone know the true story as to who produced the Styx albums? I doubt it. Dennis claims he did produce them. Did he? I wasn't there. All I know is what I read and I don't recall anyone refuting his claim. That does not mean that no one has. Just not something I have not seen personally.

I do believe that on HIS music he probably did the lion's share of producing, so likely that claim of his is accurate.

And we rotate back to square one.

I dont have the albums or CD's in front of me, but from The Grand Illusion thru Kilroy I think they were all produced by STYX.

As for Killing the Thing That You Love I remember reading a Dear Glen where he stated that it was written by him and somebody else way back in the early 90's. The song was about the assination of John Lennon. He never released it because they didnt want to glorify Hinkley. As far as I know none of the lyrics were changed for Cyclorama.

With that said I bet they( JY, Tommy, Glen, Chuck, Lawerence & Todd) laughed their asses off when they recorded that song. The lyrics sure as hell do slam Dennis. At the time because of the lawsuit etc they all probably despised DDY. This song whenever written is a slam. Still, its a VERY GOOD song, and they have EVERY right to put it out there. Who do we think we are????? The MMM!!!!!!

I thought Chapman shot Lincoln, because the play was a cover version!, and Hinkley rented Bono the snowboard!!

So, if you are of the belief that "Dennis was Styx" then there is no issue here, is there ???

Except if you believe Dennis is Styx, then you would also believe that Tommy, JY, Chuck, and John were all hired guns and had no real value to Styx.

I believe that for that moment in time, they were all Styx. And I also believe that the group as it is now constituted is Styx. This is where we differ.

Well then, case closed.

And the detective moves on to her next case, badge in hand. Well, okay, maybe in her purse.

Hippie says:

"Lighten up Francis!" Stripes

THAT'S where that phrase was from!!! I haven't seen that movie in quite a while.

Adam as Christopher Walken? I think that's a good choice since I don't know what he looks either - LOL

Adam says:

Sadie wins. This clearly and intelligently explains the dramatic split in Styx. Bravo Sadie. Big bingo there sister!

I agree with Adam (gasp), only on this.

I have always thought if today's Styx was able to put out 4 or 5 albums of new material, that would give enough of a base of Larry's songs that would be included in the set and give Dennis the opportunity to come back to play his songs.

2 points.....

1. I dont think there is enough room on stage for 2 keyboard players ( and their egos ! )

2. Even if they had an unprecendented creative spurt, I dont think there is time for these guys to release 4 or 5 more CD's of new material....
Maybe they could sneak in another live one STYX....live from shady hills assisted living center !!!!

That would be perfect.
Dennis can't sing and Larrry can't play keyboards.
Anyways...i think Denny( as some of you like to call him), has finally mellowed out and realizes that he was too bossy in the old days, and maybe was wrong and should be in with the band on equalish terms since he is not too hot without them.

I know I'm new here, but... have you been to any of his shows? I've been to more than 10 in the last 5 years and nearly all have been sellouts (or pretty dang close). Perhaps you were referring to the quality of the show? Every one (except the 2004 Chicago show when DeYoung was sick) has been excellent! And the Chicago HOB show last month absolutely ROCKED! I most definitely disagree that DeYoung is "not too hot without them." I'm not even sure I'd want him to return to Styx at this point. Knowing all that has come between them publicly, and imagining there was so much more privately, I'd be painfully aware that it was all just a sham. Everyone is entitled to there opinion, I guess.

I'm all for everybody getting the chance to see one of DeYoung's shows. I don't know what part of CA you're in, but I thought I'd heard a rumor that he was going to be doing a show somewhere up there? I'm guessing you're not close enough for the WI or MN shows? That's a bummer! He's not been that close to me, 2.5 hours is as near as he's gotten. I, on the other hand, have driven 6+ hours to see him.

BTW, I'm sorry if I jumped the gun in my prior reply, trying to get the hormones straightened out.

gr8dane, Milwaukee is only 13 hours from Toronto :) You can have a nice vacation in Milwaukee.

You can ask quite a few people on the board the fun places to visit

I love Toronto. It's one of my favorite cities to visit (right after Vegas). I almost took a job about 15 years ago at the Toronto Star that I was offered :)
