Without Steve Perry... it ain't Journey. Even if you get a guy that sounds very similar.

Fortunately, Dennis is one of a kind or no doubt they'd have stooped to that level.

Both groups have gotten a great replacement. In Journey's case, I could less if Perry came back. Perry will always be the voice of Rock, but Augeri is the singer of Journey! And the band loves it. It's now a band who can tour.
Styx, I miss Dennis more from Styx, but I think the split is for the better.
Will follow both groups still, and Dennis, Perry had better do something outstanding for me to buy a cd from him again!-ERIC

Steve Perry I just can't see doing much of anything these days. His choice, and I wish him well with it.

I think the split is for the best. Enjoy who you enjoy. Cuz, in all seriousness, they won't be around as long as we would like.

Adam: Okay, so this comment could be interpreted as saying 1) Journey "stooped" low by hiring a guy who sounds somewhat like Perry 2) the new Styx went about doing things on a 'higher' level (at least higher than Journey) and 3) Steve Perry ISN'T one of a kind.

To me, it's a no win situation. Burtnik did/didn't sound like Shaw. Either way, he wasn't embraced by the old fans. Gowan does/doesn't sound like DeYoung. Either way, he's not embraced by the old guard. Augieri either doesn't sound ENOUGH like Perry or sounds TOO CLOSE.

It's conservatives versus liberals. It's natural to resist change - RESENT change even. But time marches on and change is inevitable. Everything MUST change. Life IS change. (ain't I philosophical?)

Does anyone here believe that had Dennis appeared on Cyclorama singing his show tune/ballads it would've caused Styx to be RE-embraced by modern pop culture? Does anyone reading this for a moment think that, if DDY were still in the band & appeared on Big Bang singing "Summertime" that it would somehow make the band more CURRENT or POPULAR?

Okay, maybe Froy thinks so...

Ohhhhhhhhhh, actually I would enjoy hearing him sing "Whole Lotta Love", he sings that one just awesome. :D I like his version better than the original, just my opinion.
