I agree with what you've said below....Except for "Manic Depression". I really don't care for JY's vocals on this song. They definitely have the music down though.

ChicagoSTYX wrote:Here is a short review of the new clips.

Find The Cost Of Freedom, This song really shows off the harmony just as I expected it would.

Locomotive Breath, JY sounds good singing this song it fits him well. I hope there are some Styx harmonies somewhere in this song.

Manic Depression, This song also fits JY’s voice but I have never liked this song to begin with. I’ll have to hear the whole song before I can decide.

Talkin About The Good Times, This was the surprise of the CD for me so far. I had never heard of this song before and I was expecting it to be a blues song. Judging from the short clip it sounds like classic Styx.

Wishing Well, Great rocker. It reminds me of the wooden nickel days. Who is singing the high part with Tommy?

A Salty Dog, Larry sounds good doing this one. This song is along the lines of Pieces Of Eight. Another song where I hope to hear those great harmonies but couldn’t tell if there in this song from the short clip.

The quality of this CD seems to be outstanding. The music itself is Styx all the way. The style and sound of the guitars are instantly recognizable of the classic Styx sound and the musicianship seems flawless. So far I am very happy with what I have heard. Has anyone heard the complete CD yet?

Of course, they DESERVED it ! All in all, we're pretty well behaved, at least when you compare us to THAT group !

I'd think we could all handle the occassional F bomb. Sheesh.

I use it for effect. :D

Yeah, no kidding. What the fuck is the big deal? It's just a word.

The big deal is that it is a cuss word. The rating board gives a move a pg-13 or r rating depending on how it is used. Some people use it in everday language, will some use only in expression of anger, and some never (hardly ever) use it at all. The tv gaurdain takes it out of moves, and we try and keep or young kids from using it. Yes it's only a word. But it is not a word you will hear me go around using. I have said, but am not proud of it, and try to stay away from it, when ever possible. Not to get into a relgion area here, but I am a Christian, and tend to shy away from things like that. Now don't go staying away from me for this, people tend to cut me out of things becasue of this. But, the f word is something I stay away from.-ERIC

WHEN has he said this? I have seen it all over this BB, many times by Andrew himself. The rule is to not make personal attacks, not to censor specific words.

I would appreciate it if the F-word and a few other swear words weren't used on this board. I'm sure there are others on here too. I know this is public forum, but it's really not necessary. Just my opinion.

I have a little bar of soap that I bring to work(at the high school), I bring it out when the kids talk naughty - LOL I guess I'll have to bring it on here 8)

It really doesn't matter what you or anybody else thinks of it. People will use those words if they wish and there is NOTHING you can do about it. If you can't ignore it, that is YOUR problem. Andrew allows it...it's not up to you.

Oooooooh, I guess you really told me, again.

Of course there's nothing I can do about it, I was just asking nice. Of course it's MY problem if I ignore it or not. I know it's not up to ME. I said it was just my opinion. I was having fun with bringing the bar a soap on here too.

If I dare chime in on this controversey, I don't think it's such an unreasonable request to ask that we edit ourselves here. What's so wrong about stretching a little to try to find other words to express our passion/angry/explicative thoughts - out of courtesy to others?

If we all could take a deep breath and be a little friendlier...wouldn't you like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony? I think it's so groovey now that people are finally getting together. C'mon people now! Smile on your brother. Everybody get together, try to love one another right now.

Suite, haven't you learned by now that the Monker is one of the most negative, nasty and humorless posters on this board. He is one of those that, as they say, sucks all the air out of a room when he enters it.

And guess what? He/she is RIGHT. There is NOTHING we can do about it. Absolutely nothing.

Monker will post what Monker posts, as will everyone else. I just skim or ignore most of what this person says and move on.

Maybe to those who don't agree with him, he is. Personally, I usually find him to make a helluva lot of sense, and sometimes, that IS the humorous part. I also think this paragraph is kind of mean and spiteful. You know, I haven't seen very many happy-go-lucky posts come from you lately either, so maybe you could try being a little less judgmental, hmm?

Sorry, but I just don't get the extreme bitterness here. I know he's said some things that aren't favorable, but who here hasn't? Maybe he's just sick & tired of reading the same garbage from the same people day in and day out (like the rest of us are). I'm also sure he doesn't need me to defend him, but this is just nasty.

I don't have to 'lighten up'.

This is really no different then the IML vs Zan thing in the other thread. If you don't like what somebody else posts, ignore it. It's that simple. Whining about it or going all ballistic is the problem of the whiner or the hot-head, not the person who said Belgium.

People have the right to be stupid...Or, in the case with this forum, Andrew has given people the privilage to act stupid on his forum. You are moving down to their level if you acknowledge their posts with any type of credibility. You tell me, who is more stupid...the stupid person or the one who follows their post and acknowledges them at a higher level then they deserve?

I tend to agree that if a language is allowed, it shouldn't be made an issue (everything in moderation, and it bothers me none, IMO). However, there is no harm in asking someone nicely to be respectful. There's no need to jump down anyone's throat for it.

That said, if someone asks you not drop an F bomb, you can always ignore that, and so on... ;-)

This is the song that never eeeends...

I also think this paragraph is kind of mean and spiteful.

As is in keeping with the tone of this board lately.

One person's mean and spiteful is another person's "I agree completely."

I haven't seen very many happy-go-lucky posts come from you lately either, so maybe you could try being a little less judgmental, hmm?

Sorry, just not have been in the mood lately. And Suite, a very good person, is often attacked by the likes of Monker, which gets my ire up.

I do apologize for sinking to the lowest common denominator here. Pot calling the kettle....you get the idea.

However, I will not come off my assessment of Monker. He/she is what he/she is. No one can do anything about it other than calling him/her on it upon occasion.

Sorry if that is distasteful to some.

And just because I am in the DDY camp, so-to-speak, does not mean I approve of the tone IML has brought to this board of late, either.

Froy has ALWAYS been Froy and, as I said before, he gets just what he wants when he makes some of his outrageous posts. Ignore and move on is the better road to take, but sometimes, I feel the need to comment on the ugliness that pops up here.

Yogi, that was funny.

I don't like how it was used a few days ago towards members on this board.

Monker, I don't even think this has anything to do with you anyway. I'll have to check the past posts.

You'd think I'd know that by now, LOL, especially reading all his Journey crud that last couple of years and then on here - egad.

I meant to thank you, Adam, for that comment, too. Well said.

It is easy to find other words, when needed, to express a strong opinion. I mean, why not?

Yeah, and Yogi, where the freak is freakin' Ocean Springs anyway??

Well, yes she is. I don't blame you for feeling that way. I just get the impression that it doesn't matter what Monker says lately, he's jumped on. I could be wrong. I have been before.

Ah, smeg it.

All I am saying is that all of these 'polite requests' are MEANINGLESS as soon as you get certain personalities on here who ignore what you want - and then there is nothing you can do about it, except be frustrated that the forum is not how YOU want it to be.

Now this is turning into a debate about me and my 'sense of humor', or lack of it, and my posts on Journey forums.

As for my sense of humor...I'm far too dry and sarcastic for everybody to 'get it' or 'like it' and sometimes I hide it in ways that only a few would understand anyway. That's fine, and I don't let it bother me if somebody doesn't 'get it'.

The Journey forum here and its posters go back more then five years to when there was a VH1 Journey forum and a Steve Perry forum. Those forums were closed down because a handful of people were acting like IML...the Journey forum here was closed for a while for the very same reasons...because those people migrated from VH1 to here and kept the same antics. I once compared some of the personalities to pond scum...because it was bringing out the worst of Journey fandom.

The same thing will happen here if you people don't stop concentrating on what you don't like about each other, and start concentrating on what you like about Styx...

That's my opinion, take it or leave it...and I know most will leave it...and that's OK.

And, that's the last I'm saying on this subject.
