Ever read any of the Star Wars novels? I'm either proud or ashamed (depending on perspective) to say I've got about 80 of them under my belt

Yes I have read most of them. Stopped reading them around 94/95, after my first kid was born. Needed the money elsewere. My favorite was the one Steve Perry (not of Journey) wrote, that took place between Empire and Return. Also had all the Conan and Dragonlance books up to that time too. Both were not a bad series.-ERIC

Yes, great book. I also like most of Timothy Zahn's SW stuff.

I read the three Zahn books, "Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising and Last Command" and the Steve Perry book, "Shadows of the Empire." They were decent reads, but I stopped after that. There is a fine line between being a Star Wars fan and a guy who wears a Chewbacca costume to a Sci-Fi convention.

Well, Scott, you can rest easy. I've never been to, and have no immediate plans to hit the latest sci-fi convention Of course, there are some sci-fi fans who probably view Styx concerts in the same light LOL!

Grew up listening to such artists such as Styx, The Eagles, The Beatles, Journey, Kansas, and Others....I went to the Kilroy concert in October of 83 (Great Show )

I was in the school band for 6 years as a trumpet player, performed at Football and Basketball games, parades, and Concerts...My highlights include marching in the homecoming game in the pouring rain in the Fall of 83(I was soaked), performing a Christmas concert at the Cherryvale Mall in 85, and perfoming at my graduation in 86....
I have been working for a company here in town for the last 8 and 1/2 years in which the company is in the process of moving to Mexico...

My hobbies are Bowling, bicycle riding, jogging with my music, and(LOL) karaoke music....My special highlight is shooting a 299 in bowling 1 week after my team mate shot his 299 and we both recieved an ABC 299 ring ...

What pin wrecked your perfect game ? Im guessing it was a 10 Pin.
I used to bowl, but never more than once a week....never had higher than a 259 game though. Tore up my knee about 6 years ago, thus ending any hopes of joining the senior PBA.........

Sorry about the whole Mexico thing ruining your career, that really sucks!

Eric, I had a tough year this year and I averaged a 181...

Classic, no it was the 6 pin...My last shot went Brooklyn and it was a little too tight to carry the 6...My team mate had the 10 pin.... 5 years ago a 10 pin cost me another 300 game, I left a 10 in the first frame and went on to shoot 290...

You got that right, the song "Killing The Thing That You Love" comes to my mind to the executives that made that decision, and "Goodbye Roseland" is to the good people that I enjoyed working with....

I tore the ACL and messed up the Meniscus tendons......I did not have the surgery that would have been required to get back to 100 percent. I tried Bowling once about 8 months after doing it and collapsed on the lane during the 4th frame. ( and man was that PAINFUL ! )

Actually, I am thinking about giving it another whirl someday as the muscles around the knees seem to be much stronger now.....I was never that great, I think I peaked at 170 average one year...160-165 was a typical year. I miss the bowling, but not the hangovers I usually had the next day!

I just bowled last night, I'm in a Friday night fun league. I laugh and have too much fun while I'm bowling this year, so I didn't even make it over 200. My closest game was a 197. I've been bowling for a long time, mostly fun leagues. I think my average is around 142 this season.

DeeJay, I'm sorry to hear about your company moving, very sad.

Classic, I'm sorry to hear about your knee, hopefully you can start bowling again without the pain.

Ouch, Sorry to hear that....

I have a friend who was a former team mate of mine that finally had his knee replacement due to an old football injury...He fell down on the lanes a couple of times....
I know what its like to fall...Back in 92, I went to the restroom with my bowling shoes and there was water on the floor(not much but, enough to make the difference)...When it was my turn to bowl, I did a swan dive over the fowl line...Fortunately I wasn't hurt, but I sure remember that incident....

It took me a while, but I learned the drinking doesn't really add much to most activities.......and I did enough really stupid things in my 20's to last a lifetime I've been to a lot of great concerts I remember very little about ( what a waste of $$$ ! )

For me, the "pain" outweighs the "gain" these days. I have nothing against anyone who does drink though, and I will have an occasional beer or maybe 2.

Bowling up to the 10th frame I was kind of like a machine, I would go up on the approach and hit my target with good arm extension and I would hit the pocket repeatedly and they just go down right away, no slow falling pins....The 10th, I was coaching myself," O.K just line up and Reach out and hit your target"...The 10th and 11th shots were again solid pocket shots..The 12th shot I was nervous because I had that feeling that "Whoa, This Is It"....Plus to add to the tension there were so many people watching me...I'd tried coaching myself through it but what happend was that I tugged my shot and I missed my target by 2 or three boards to the left and my ball went to the Brookly pocket but it was a little high on the head pin to carry the 6 pin...And then there was the collective moan, "AAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWW".....

I usually find if you have more fun you score better anyway because you're more relaxed....A fun league sounds like a really good choice, or a "You Pick It" league, where you pick your prize.....

Yes, when it comes to manufacturing in this country, Its out the window, Thats very sad....

Classic, there's nothing wrong with an occasional beer or 2.. ..Lately I passed on that because I had to work 3rd shift right after bowling...

Ok - since we are all digressing on this "Introduce Yourself" thread - I am a big fan of bowling but here we have candlepin bowling, sometimes called small ball bowling and not to be confused with duck pin bowling (balls bigger than candlepin and smaller that ten pin. My average is around 95-100 I never did well in ten pin. If you have never played candle pin it's great no such thing as a 300 and the pins that fall stay in play giving an interesting oppourtunity to use the dead wood to your advantage. My high score was 121 about 20 years ago.

I love bowling. I have my own ball with custom grip and all that stuff, but I rarely play anymore. When I was on a league many, many years ago, the highest game I ever bowled was 207, which isn't bad...Nowadays, if I bowl a 150 game, I'm impressed with myself.

At my former company, I was sent to Mexico to train people on our computer system, because they decided to move the whole division down to Chihuahua. I can relate to what you must be feeling. Fingers crossed that things work out well for you in the future.

My first Styx experience was dancing on the bed of my Sister's room to Renegade back in 1978. It's one of the few memories I cherish of my sister who was taken unexpectedly three years later in an automobile accident.

My first Styx event was the EOTC tour. It was one of the first shows in Columbia, MD. Glen still looked uncomfortable singing Renegade, but the crowd was extremely supportive and he seemed to really appreciate it. Almost like the support of the crowd is what got him through the song. He did, however, look really uncomfortable when he started in on the first line.

I saw three shows on the 1996 tour and one on the 1997 tour. I did see about half of a show during the 1999 tour but due to reasons I won't get into here - I left during "come sail away".

Ash, you've definitely got that right! I've been burned myself and I truly thought I knew the person, had met 'em, talked to 'em on the phone, yada yada yada. But when it came down to it, I'd been just as irresponsible as we warn our kids not to be.

People will say and do anything to try and gain your confidence on the internet. All it takes is for one of the strings to snap, and they're off to the races. For me, it just doesn't make sense. But then again, I'm not a psychopathic tyrant either.

Ash, I feel your pain. The internet can be fun, but you gotta prepare yourself for the inevitable.

And Classic, all it takes is for the assumption that your life is more than boring for some people to want to invade your privacy. It won't matter if it's true or not.

I've met quite a few people on these boards. Most of the people that I met are great and a lot of them became great friends over the past couple years. I had only one bad incident with one person, I'll leave it at that.

The internet allows for all kinds of role playing and anonymity that can and has lead to serious problems for people. It is always wise to err on the side of caution and discretion.

I've had some wonderful experiences, however the ones that were bad were truly bad and left me with idea not to expose myself or my family beyond what is here.
