What would you say or do if Styx decided in an effort to move totally away from Dennis, they re-recorded their entire catalog with the current lineup and in the process, stopped producing the original recordings with Dennis on them?

I'd say that would be one heck of an expensive venture on their part. And it would truly increase the value of those items in existance with Dennis on them. While it might gain them awareness, I think that would be a cost they wouldn't recoup in the long run.

My initial response would be "Repent! Repent!"

Then I'd say let 'em go ahead if they want to spend that kind of money. It really wouldn't matter because the songs would never be the same. Just look at "Lady" versus "Lady 95" both are good, but they are not the same. And really, while their more diehard fans, the "collectors," would more than likely purchase them, I doubt the average fan would. First, songs never sound the same live in concert as they do on the recordings, that's something we all know. And second, I'd imagine a lot of their average fans already have the majority of their music library, from any of the various "live" or "best of" cds that have been released over the last several years. So if 1) they're not going to sound the same and 2) you've already got them on one or more cds, why duplicate your cd library? At least that'd be my philosphy.

OK so I'm rambling today. Chalk it up to the pain meds.

This is from Andrews review of Big Bang and I couldn't agree more!!!!
