Amazon - Styx BBT

Postby SuiteMadameBlue » Sat Apr 30, 2005 1:43 am

Today's music..................

This is just from Amazon ratings. I was talking off line with my American Idol buddies and one of the contestants that was just booted off, Constantine has a band called "Pray for the Soul of Betty". Both his band's cd and Carrot Styx BBT cd are both released the same day. You can preorder these cd's on here.

Here are the sales rank from today:

Styx Big Bang Theory
Amazon.com Sales Rank: #1,488 in Music

Pray For The Soul of Betty
Amazon.com Sales Rank: #2 in Music

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Can't wait to hear the excuses JY come up for the lackluster sales of this one.

None of those initial numbers mean much of anything. I expect BBT to rise very high the day of its release and probably in the weeks after.

This is what the Wooden Nickel Collection did.

It is the staying power of these releases that mean something.

Styx Greatest Hits, on Amazon, consistently stays in the top six or seven hundred's and often goes into the 300's and even into the 200 best-sellers, week after week after week. And it has been selling well now for years.

Classic Says: I didn't know there was a chart specifically for Arena Rock.................How many CD's are even on the chart ? and perhaps
someone can enlighten me regarding the definition of Arena Rock vs
Classic Rock ?

Are there separate charts for 70's rock vs 80's rock ? up tempo rock ?
Ballads rock ? I am very unenlightened about all of the different charts.

Classic, these are just sub-categories on Amazon's sales charts. When you are in their music area, there is a tab at the top that will let you look at what is selling well in mutliple music categories.

Styx Greatest Hits is, I believe, no 5 in the arena rock categroy.

Are any of you aware of the latest Media Base charts for Classic Rock? Looks like "I Don't Need No Dennis..uh Doctor" is getting some "spins" on their listings. Walrus went back down into the nether regions there as well, but rose back up a little.

This is the chart JY was referring to as "we went to no. 2 on the classic rock charts."

So this album is getting some play on stations, it appears.
