Yep, me too.

On the radio this morning I heard "Summer In the city". Well, at least the last minute of the song. The DJ was saying a lot of good things about it...listing the songs, etc.

Where do you people live that these songs are getting airplay? I have not heard a "new" Styx song on the radio down here since "Paradise," and that was only about 3 times.

Reports from other sites are that various songs are getting airplay in chicago, las vegas, Portland Maine, St. Louis areas. Those are what I have heard from my closest peeps. I however, rarely listen to the radio unless I am listening to baseball.

The Radio Station In Rosemont that is giving the tix to the Rosemont Show is playing them pretty regularly. You can listen to their stream at http://wdrv.com/

Funny thing is that it appears that dj's are playing various cuts from the album, not just Walrus or Doctor. I have heard a couple of times that the Dj's have said on the air something to the effect that "while song xxx was just requested, this is MY favorite cut form the new Styx cd" Lots of different songs will fit into various stations formats.

There not playing anything new by Styx here in the Tampa Bay area either Zan.

I emailed this area's classic rock station and the reply I received was thanks for the email. I tried........

I just droped out of hiding to post a revies, now back to lurking!

Picked it up at Target this morning

Let's see - First Impressions!

I am The Walrus (You Have heard this one)

I can see for miles (Sound like the original with better harmonies)

Can't find my way home (Best STYX Acoustic guitar work in 20 years & probably the best Tommy Vocal since the glory years)

It don't make sense You Can't Make Peace (Perfect JY Ballad, I didn't know the song before but I really Like it)

I don't Need No Doctor (!!!! - Gowan really shines when he ain't singing Dennis Stuff)

One Way Out (Easily as good as the original, I may like it a bit better and that is saying a lot)

A Salty Dog (Didn't know this one, The Most "70's Sounding of the tracks Probably my least favorite but still pretty good, I need to listen to it again before I make my final decision)

Summer In The City (ROCKS!)

Manic Depression (Again a great song for JY, sounds like he was just having a good time with it)

Talking about the god times (Neat tune - Who Were "The Pretty Things" Very British sounding "flowery" stuff. Fun)

Locomotive Breath (It's just fun to hear JY on this one)

Find The Cost of Freedom (again this one was new to me, it's used more as an intro to "Wishing Well" Neat tune)

Wishing Well (OMG)

Blue Collar Man @ 2120 (Very Different, I like it but I think it will grow on me with more listens)

On a different note I picked up the Scissor Sisters CD yesterday, it's really a fun disk or 70's and early 80's inspired dance rock I bet you would dig it. WARNING-skip track 3 (Comfortably Numb) it's worse than VOGON Poetry and they should be fined for making the worse recording of a song in the history of music! Other than that I've listened to the CD four or five times now and it's becoming a favorite I just always skip the dreaded track three (Makes me sick to even think about it L)

for $7.98, I couldnt resist.........and I purchased a copy.

Will review after I've given it a few spins. Target's "regular retail price" is $11.99, so if you are near a Target, and on the fence, buy it while it's discounted ! I think this price is good through saturday, but cant say for sure.

I had to go to the "S" area.....there was no separate Point of Purchase display that I saw, but I didnt really scope the whole department.

They has 4 or 5 copies behind the plastic Styx separator.

I had to go to the service desk and point out the sale price in the flyer to be sure I got the $7.98 price......it scanned that way but wasnt marked as such.

Running errands at lunch today...Big Bang at Best Buy...no end caps, no seperate breakout....3 copies.

All of which means very little.

Hopefully it will meet the bands expectations, as well as it's fans and the record company. That's all anyone should ask for.

Peace

The Target store here had them on the side isle with the rest of the new releases. They had about 20 of them. I didn’t look in the “S” section they may have had more there.

Small Wallmart near me -- 4 copies. Not on display with new releases. Hard to find since there is no Styx designation. It was mixed in with copies of Greatest Hits. Price was $9.9? , not sure. It was marked as that on the CD.

I do not know about the Super Walmarts fairly near me. They have a lot bigger music section with more items displayed usually.

FYI.

Also FYI, Mediabase indexes a little over 1500 stations. When I last looked there were several songs from BBT being given "spins" as they put it.
I cannot get into their lists right now as my little back door that got me in was shut.

Got mine at Target. Five copies (now four). In the New Releases section of the side aisle. VERY easy to find, several 'as advertised' signs all around it. Five copies for an advertised new release on a 'major label' by an established artist doesn't bode well for a blockbuster.

My guess is they pressed between 10,000 and 20,000 for the initial release. When I picked up Cyclorama at Wal-Mart, they had about 10 copies, so that's what I'm basing my guestimate on.

My local Kmart had 7 when I picked up mine. 4 were on the "new" endcap, and 3 were in with "Styx." I called my father, who is on the road this week, and told him to stop at Target and get it. I told him what was all on it (he's been a believer since he heard Cyclorama), and his exact words were, "I'm on it!"

Picked mine up last night at Best Buy. They must have had 50 copies. Heard I don't Need No Doctor on the radio on the way home. That song is the most rocking song I have ever heard STYX do.

My wife and kids were out. So I got a good listen with the volume at 11.

Although I would have prefered a cd of new original material, this isn't bad. Stand out tracks are Salty Dog, I Can See For Miles, I Don't Need No Doctor. The only track that didn't do anything for me is It Don't Make Sense. Who is singing lead on Talking About The Good Times? Some songs seemed a little heavy handed-too much guitar.

This cd won't get as much time in my player as Cyclorama did. But it's a decent effort.

This is only the second time this has happened to me with a Styx song, but I can not tell who is singing lead on 'I Can See For Miles' who is it???

The only other time was on the song 'Shooze' for 20+ years I had thought it was JY singing lead.

Yogi,

Tommy sings lead on 'I can see for miles', although I believe Gowan, JY and Tommy are background vocals.
