Which sold more?

Well, this sort of data seems to some of the more elusive variety out there. Until either of them achieves gold or platinum status (which is not even remotely likely), we probably can't even get an inkling as to how many each sold.

talk about a lose-lose scenario.

If BNW outsold Cyclorama, you'll hear "some people" go "hahahahah see! see! even at his worst a DDY album is better than Carot Styx' best".

And if the vice versa then you hear "hahahahahah see! see! Styx doesn't need Dennis anymore".

and guys like me struggling to keep an open mind about everything will be lost in the never-ending septic tank of bilge and fire that will result.

Well Ash, for what it's worth, I won't be making any comments one way or another. Both albums contained music that I liked, and my personal preferences won't change based on one outselling the other. I'm just curious. That said, I'd have to say you're right about the lose-lose scenario.

Eh Eric... you're wasting your time. This is the kind of arcane, ADD, "I Can't Get Over It", "I still live with mommy", "I never made it past 5th grade in emotional school" drivel that seems to come from certain people. I prefer to take pitty in silence.

All I can say is that if Dennis sat around and cried in his beer as much as some of these "nice people" then I'd have lost respect for him a long time ago. These "nice people" don't realize how much they're turning people off of their argument. Some day they may get it - but since that would require a maturation process, I tend to doubt it's feasibility.

Very well said Ash.

I suppose I am curious as to which album sold more, but IN NO WAY do I believe there'd be any "argument" proven either way. One of my mantras on this board has been 'sales do not equal quality or even importance'. Let's face it, we are communicating via a website dedicated to a style of music that is outdated and unpopular.

So if ItsMyLife poses this question with the agenda we can only assume she does, then let me make this pre-emptive statement. If sales matters so much, go buy the new J-Lo album.

So Mr Maturity says...

Meanwhile... you're the one who had to take it down to this level YET AGAIN.

I all I did was ask a question.

Come on Andrew lets get some accurate #'s. Please include internet, concert, and worldwide sales.

Say what you like but current Styx REALLY pushed BNW back in 1999& 2000 at all of their concerts. When I saw them at one concert( Far West Rodeo by themselves) they played Everything Is Cool, Brave New World, Witness, Number 1 , and Heavy Water - The other Three times with REO(2) and Bad Company they played Everything Is Cool, Brave New World & Heavy Water.

If I am betting BNW is ahead but not by much. I will guess??????

Brave New World - 125,000 units sold

Cyclorama - 115, 000 units sold

** I am talking Worldwide, internet & concert sales

I was checking out the back of the BBT insert and noticed in the 'also available' list that some albums in the Styx catalog were missing. Most notably among them were.....Brave New World and Cyclorama.

That is because Cyclorama & Brave New World are on Sancutary CD's and tapes.
I read somewhere that is why nothing off of Brave New world is on the anthology. They took two cuts from Sanctuary and one was the very short Dear John.

I guess that would also explain why Return to Paradise isn't on there either.

Impossible....too many agencies involved, with half of them not reporting numbers officially...

Soundscan USA is the only official source you can quote from, which is what I did.

Universal is not going to promote another company's album even if it is from a band they have on their label. The only way this would happen would be if they bought those albums from sanctuary and I can't see that happening.

Much obliged...however I believe StyxNH was referring to figures comparing Brave New World to Cyclorama...not Big Bang Theory.

I see the #'s for Big Bang.... I thought he was going to post Cyclorama/BNW numbers... Perhaps I'm just on crack this morning. I don't see the Cyclorama/BNW info if it's there.
