Isn't that Rod Stewart's "The First Cut Is The Deepest" or was that a cover of Cat Steven's?[/quote]

Cat wrote the song, and recorded the first version, but Rod is the one who had a hit with it.

What the heck???? New to me.

I'm watching VH1 and there's a band covering Rick Springfield's "Jessie's Girl". The band is named "Frickin A", sounds very similar to the original. Rick Springfield is even in the "80's" video and he's also playing guitar.

OMG, this song is 24 years old already!!!!

Welcome back to the 80's everyone :)

LOL, I guess I didn't leave either. I really miss the 80's, the music, the clothes, my big hair, etc.

Lord, if there is one decade I could skip for all the reasons you just listed that would be it. Thank goodness the 80's are over. Can you tell I DON'T miss the 80's?

Music that was music

I think part of that is because it's easier for us to identify with the music of the day when we're young. Now that I'm no longer angry at the world or suffering from the teenage angst of days gone by, it's hard for me to get into many of the present day lyrics, even if the accompanying music isn't so bad.

Even though Styx was broke up when I really got into them, a lot of their music had some special appeal to me because I was still at what I would describe as a "very receptive" age. However, even from the beginning, I found their lyrics to be much more intelligent than a lot of their peers.

I "trashed" them because for me, I didn't care for the majority of the music, clothing, hair, and prevailing attitude that "greed works".

If you enjoyed them, great. I am truly happy for you. Just a difference perspective I suppose.

Peace

I trashed the 80's a lot more in the 80's then I do today......of course back then, we didnt have the 90's to compare to the 80's !!!!

the 80's looks really good when you have that basis of comparison !

Count me among the non-trashers. The eighties were a lot of fun. I wouldn't want to live them again, but I wouldn't change a thing.

Totally agree with Suite on the 4 scousers thing, can't stand them, never could, never will. IMHO Dennis and Tommy wrote far superior songs than Lennon and old droopy eyes

I think the worst cover ever is IML trying to cover Froy. He tries so hard to sound like him but he just can't. The original version is so much better. IML can't even misspell works correctly.

why does every damn thread have to go away from the topic of the thread and go to personal attacks?

This is a rhetorical question. But i'm sure I'll get a smart ass answer from the usual suspects...
