JY interview on ARFM

Postby DarrenUK » Mon Jun 06, 2005 5:57 am

The interview was very very interesting and when asked why the band had not toured the UK in 24 years the answer given was......well i wont say as some people including a certain gentleman who,s name begins with F and ends in Y will say that its not true so i will move on.
The band have decided to do just 1 or 2 off BBT and 2 off Cyclorama (One With Everything & These Are The Times) and the rest will be old stuff and JY said as its been 24 years we have had to wait the band will look to play 150 minutes (Curfews permitting)........Boat On The River (Number 1 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and believe it or not Turkey all for 8-10 weeks will feature.....as its the bands biggest selling single in Europe).
8 days and counting until the Nottingham Rock City show..........

LOOK AROUND....LIFE IS GOOOOOOOOOOD

I thought a lot of tact was displayed in the interview, a good all round one in fact , a lot of "Dennis" questions were avoided, and JY seemed to answer very carefully where Dennis was involved. He could of easily gone off on a rant!!!!! well done JY (think he could be mellowing)
Steve Price( DJ) just rang as i'm writing this, I've won the competition, YIPPEE signed styx stuff on its way to me
all this and less than 2 weeks to the gigs
life just gets better for us UK Styx fans

Darren,

I am happy for you regarding their upcoming visit, but what is this obsession over who or whom is responsible for their coming sooner.

While I have no doubt Dennis (there I used his name for you) wasn't thrilled with touring overseas, I also know it is much easier to name him since he isn't there to answer it himself. I am sorry he didn't like to, and yet, when I look at the time line, I'm still reminded that they just weren't together long enough after the Kilroy tour to get overseas...a fact that also plays a role in their decision not to go overseas more.

Instead of focusing on this aspect, please, just enjoy them coming.

And again, I am honestly very happy you will get to see them.

Peace
Sadie

Question was

Which Styx album was released in 1977.......I thought come on JY make it a bit more difficult than that but Mike ime glad the goodies went to a long standing Styx fan......well done mate.

Why not ask good old JY why they have not toured the UK in the last 6 years Darren ?
Dennis has not been around for 6 years and they have not set foot in the UK
All of a sudden the UK is so important to this band
You want to know why ?
The USA is done with STYX they have played every bowling alley back and forth up and down,
So now when there is no places left to play the UK is the place for STYX
And of course there has to be a Dennis ripping attached to it.
If you would like to know in the last 24 years
6 of the years you have this cover band lineup
The other years STYX did not egsist for 14 of those years of course Shaws coke problem had nothing to do with that
The other 3 tours Kiroy and RTTP and TRTGI tour were only about 100 dates I saw about 15 of them so I was very happy, Thanks Dennis
If you want to see a washed down version of STYX who has burned out the US get ready there comming get your money ready to pay off Shaw and Young . You are going to get that Heavy Rock Tune 'Boat on The River,

Don't need to see the band when the lineup speaks for itself
If you think
Todd Suckerman
Larry Gowan
Rickie Phillips
James Young and Tommy Shaw are Styx than more power to ya.
BTW where are all that stats for this great new cover cd
Seems like we don't hear about it anymore
What happened?

And your right Dennis DeYoung is my hero
Is Larry Gowan yours?

If you think they're not, then perhaps you need to spend some time in a room with foamy walls so you can't hurt yourself.

Styx is Styx and there is nothing you can do about it.

Oh, come on now. We don't want to talk about BBT or whatever that gray haired guy is doing. We just want to talk about the shit that happened six years ago. I thought that is what you wanted, is it not? Never forget how Dennis turned into a vampire, couldn't tour under lights as bright as a sun, so Styx replaced him, and he sued the band but settled out of court. LET NOBODY FORGET!

Resistence is useless, or futile, or whatever the frell you want to say.

Typical Monker. For a guy who says nothing bothers you... you sure get bothered a lot by Froy's posts.

So, are you gonna comment on the typic, or just make weasely observations? It's not like I'm dodging it. Go for it babe, it's in your nature.

Chaka, chaka, chaka, chaka khan
Chaka khan, chaka khan, chaka khan
Chaka khan, let me rock you
Let me rock you, chaka khan
Let me rock you, that’s all I wanna do
Chaka khan, let me rock you
Let me rock you, chaka khan

UGH, time to put in a cd!! I'll have to put in my Kilroy :)

My theory is the Oracle Diva is Larry Gowan with an assist from a helium baloon !!!!!

Seriously though, I'd like to get a mix of those 2 songs minus the Oracle
Diva/Helium Larry....I think those background vocals detract from what are otherwise pretty good songs.

Just my not so humble opinion.
