OT Live 8, who is performing when ?

Postby classicstyxfan » Sat Jul 02, 2005 5:45 am

Anybody know where i can go to get a schedule of who is performing ?
( both where and when )

I was able to find out who is performing where, but no performance times
while surfing on my own.

Any help along these lines would be truly appreciated !

And have a nice holiday weekend.

Correct me if I am wrong, but there doesn't seem to be the buzz about Live8 the way there was about Live Aid. It will be interesting to see if there are any unforgettable moments like Live Aid had, such as Bono dancing with female fans, Led Zep "reunion", and so on. I am so glad I taped as much of Live Aid as I could. Really cool to go back and watch it.

I think there is a sense of "been there, done that." The Live Aid concert was an amazing accomplishment to put together and had many bands playing at the top of their game. HUGE bands at the time.

I always remember Phil Collins playing drums in the UK, then hopping the Concorde to play drums in the USA. So cool!

This one is a much bigger, more global endeavor, but does not have the same cachet or sense of urgency as the first one had.

It will be interesting to see what memorable moments come from it.

One thing I don't understand is, at least when I have been watching, the 2 stations MTV and VH1, are carrying the same feed, except for commercials. With shows going on in 10 different countries, and 2 stations, why not give the viewer a chance at some variety ?

Are there truly that many markets in which the cable provider offers VH1 but not MTV ? I've never run across that in my travels ( though they are limited )

Kind of sad that they have to show commercials at all on such a day, but I suppose they have stockholders to answer to.............

I don't believe what I just saw........MTV cut off the Pink Floyd set in the middle of Comfortably Numb !.....FOR a FRICKIN COMMERCIAL !!!!!!!!after talking over another portion of the song !

Boy, they look OLD ! Kind of expected that though.

I was having problems with my remote, and missed the beginning, would have liked to have seen that, along with the ending to see any interaction between Roger and the rest of the group.

Oh well, it's nice to know a super group like PF can bury the hatchet for the right cause...

Why doesn't that surprise me? It's amazing how little respect for music MTV has at times, especially given the fact that it was music that got them started in the first place. Most days I find it a complete waste of a cable channel.

any show of comraderie between the PF Boys ? all I saw was a cross shot of Waters with Gilmour looking at him and cracking a small smile during one of the songs.

MTV is a joke.. Of course they are going to commercial..they have no idea who Pink Floyd is.. They're pissed because there are no rap acts or white trash acts..

By the way, was bryan Adams any good in Toronto(Barrie)??

What I saw of the day made me a bit dizzy. I know there was a lot to cover, but it seemed to jump from one thing to another, with inane interviews and, of course, the commercials.

There were, between the various channels, and all the clutter, some good performances to see. I only saw "Money" from Pink Floyd. They sounded good, but looked OH so BAD!

When they did show an entire performance, there were some things to enjoy.

From what I could tell, every concert had HUGE audiences. Just amazing.

Roger Waters looked to be enjoying himself, really animated and smiling, Gilmore looked his usual miserable self. At the end of the set Waters dragged DG back for the bow, they looked uncomfortable, don't think we will be seeing a reunion!!!!!!!!!!
