Darren,

You too huh? My wife is from Pittsburgh. Although she has adopted the Panthers as her team, a Panthers/Steelers Superbowl would do alot to test her loyalties.

I think if anyone beats the Colts, it is NE b/c they routinely pressure Manning as SD did last Sunday. If the Colts beat them, you may as well hand them the Lombardi trophy right there. No one else can compete with them.

It's one thing beating a flat Colts team after they have already clinched home field, and beating them in the playoffs. And I gave SD props for pressuring Manning, if you read s l o w l y . . .

Dogsi, here's what you said:

"I think if anyone beats the Colts, it is NE............No one else can compete with them"

It is the 2nd part of the statement that I challenged.

Yes, you gave props to the Chargers for their pass rush......But the Chargers proved that the Colts can be beaten, and provided the blueprint for other teams to follow. The Colts also have yet to prove they can win the big game.......they could be the next Buffalo Bills, time will tell.

ON PAPER you can give the Colts this years Lombardi Trophy, just as they had Super Bowl III won on paper.....and we all know how that turned out ! It also happened to my team in SB XXXII....as I recall, you could count the pundits who said Denver could beat Favre & Company in that game on the fingers of one hand, yet, Elway & Company showed up and won the game anyway.

It's what I love about the NFL ! That's why they play the games.

Hey Scott, I see the Cowboys play the Panthers this week. If memory serves me right, you walked away from the last matchup with the bragging rights. What do you think, should this be called the Fleeting Playoff Hopes Bowl?

Ek,

Long time no post. Well yes it's true we do have bragging rights. Last time the Panthers and Cowboys played was in the 2003 playoffs. I was fortunate enough to be at the game. January in Charlotte and it was in the 60's (wore shorts to the game). Unfortunately, while the Panthers are 2-0 lifetime against the 'Boys in the playoffs, our regular season record against them sucks. The Cowboys certainly need this game more than the Panthers, so it ought to be interesting.

You a Cowboys fan by chance?

True, ahsf. But I assure you, no one but NE can beat the Colts in the playoffs. The SB will be no contest, too.

I was waiting for someone post about Sherman!! LOL It was all over the Milwaukee radio and tv stations with the live report.

I think it's going to depend on who the coach is if Favre's going to return. I hope he stays for at least one more year

Favre is gone. Holmgren didn't exactly play to win Sunday did he? Holmgren is the reason Favre was a Packer, and a reason why he was so good.

Thanks for the meories Brett. He isn't coming back to a 4 win team.

By the way, Tice is a helluva coach. Could be in KC, NO, HOU, or even Dallas if Tuna retires.

By the way, Packers draft 5th. They will most likely trade down, give up the pick, and get 2 in return. Draft some O Linemen.

The personnel that was in the place PRIOR to his arrival were bad people.

Trust me, Tice is a top 5 coach...

Belichek, Tuna, Holmgren, Sabon, and Tice. Maybe Lovie is in there as well as Marvin Lewis, Cincy's coach...

On the news tonight, the Packers contacted Jim Fassel (offensive coordinator) from the Ravens for an interview as coach. But I'm thinking the GM (Thompson) of the Packers would probably go for someone with the Seahawks since he loves those guys so much (ACK). He still has a lot of buddies over there and buddies love to hire buddies.

I wish they would just hire Steve Mariucci as coach. Then Favre would stay for sure.

Is Steve Mariucci "Mooch"? If it is, it sounds like no one wants him in Green Bay because of his crappy coaching in Detroit.

Now in Packerland their talking about defensive coordinator Jim Bates as coach.

Are there any "tough" coaches out there at all???? Or are they all "player's coaches"? LOL

What about the 2 guys who have just been fired by the Saints and the Vikings ?

The Vikings finished 9-7 and they still fired him.

This just in - LOL It's all over the tv and radio here - LOL

Packers General Manager Ted Thompson began interviewing possible replacements for Mike Sherman Wednesday night when Philadelphia Eagles' offensive coordinator Brad Childress was in Green Bay.

At least five other candidates are scheduled for interviews:

Packers defensive coordinator Jim Bates
Dallas Cowboys assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach Sean Payton
Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Maurice Carthon
Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera
San Diego Chargers defensive coordinator Wade Phillips

I think Haslet is a perfect fit for GB, and according to sources, has the inside track....

The key question is do the Packers really want Favre back? I don't think they really do...We will see the answer to that in who they hire. Hell, if the club doesn't consult Favre, then it's over too.

I think Brett has about a week to make up his mind..He can't leave the club hanging like this..Brett is a good guy, a really solid guy...He will do what's right for himself AND the club..You have a classy guy, and a classy organization..It will work out..

Gary Kubiak will be the next Houston Texan Coach

Bart Starr will come back to coach Green Bay. An added bonus will be the guy who posts here that lives by Bart Starr will be Green Bays new Offensive Coordinator

Les Steckle will come back to coach the Vikings.

Don Shula will replace Bill Parcels in Dallas

In a suprise move the guy who posts here will quit his O.C. job at Green Bay and accepted the job in New Orleans. Damn if he only knew it was to work on the tiles at the top of the Superdome. Bart will then hire former Viking Coach Bud Grant as his new O.C.

Dick Vermeil( sounds like a fatal type of V.D.) will move to the ESPN MNF broadcast booth.

' Is it really bad Doc??? Tell me I can take it Doc ' Son, I hate to tell you this but you have contracted....... Dick Vermeil.'

P.S. The Kubiak/ Texan prediction is for real!!!

P.M.S. It is a little known fact but when J.C. wrote 'You Better Ask' for Styx ll , he had just been introduced to Dick Vermeil a day earlier.

Packers have a new coach Mike McCarthy. I guess they're working on keeping Favre too.

Darren,

Looks like two wins away from the divided house.

My wife has assured me that although she was born in Pittsburgh, her loyalties are now with the Panthers. I was born in Chicago, but had no trouble whatsoever rooting on the Panthers today.

Suite is already on board, but there is still room in the back on the bandwagon.

Way to go Panthers. You definitely outplayed us and deserved the win. While I am a Bears fan till the end, I can seriously appreciate a solid victory. Congratulations!!!

Haven't read all the posts here, so forgive me if this has already been addressed, but why did Mike Sherman get the shaft? I'm no Packers fan, but losing a couple of offensive lineman, defensive backs, your #1 receiver, and several running backs is more to blame than bad coaching. What are your thoughts, Packers fans?
